Thank You Donors
Our EITC/OSTC corporate donors enjoyed a breakfast last week as we thanked them for recognizing the value of a Catholic education and choosing to invest in our communities' future health by helping York Catholic to attract and educate tomorrow's business leaders. The York Catholic Student Council invites all children ages 12 and under to attend this year's Fall Fest Wednesday, October 26, from 6-8 PM at York Catholic.  Children will have the opportunity to go trick-or-treating throughout the school and play Fall-themed games. Costumes are encouraged.
Bring a Friend to School Day
YC is holding Bring a Friend to School Day on Monday, November 7.  Current students can encourage an interested friend (from dance class, scouts, a sports team, your neighbor or cousin, etc.) to spend the day at YC as a shadow student.  Instead of shadowing with one of our Ambassadors, they can shadow with their friend.  Please have the friend's parent contact Ms. Heather Hoffman at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x20 by Friday, November 4, to set up a visit day and to receive a permission slip.  Only students with a real interest in possibly attending YC will be scheduled for this date.
Retreat - Grade 8

Our 8th Grade students will be on Retreat at St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Harrisburg Diocesan Center on Thursday, October 27.  This retreat will tie in with Confirmation as the students will get to know the Bishop and the Diocese better.  Any 8th grade parent interested in chaperoning, please contact Mrs. Krueger at [email protected] as soon as possible.
College Admission Information Night
A College Admission Information Night for Juniors, Seniors, and their parents will be held at YCHS Thursday, October 27, at 6:30 PM.  Mrs. Hess and Mr. Hillen Grason Jr., Admission Counselor from Albright College will review the college admission process, student transcripts, recommendation letters, and a Junior and Senior timeline.  This is especially helpful information if your student is the first in your family to go to college.  To register, contact Mrs. Gick at 717-846-8871 x43 or [email protected] .  You will receive a confirmation email once your registration request is received.   If you do not receive this email, please call Mrs. Gick.
Junior High Halloween Dance

The 7th & 8th Grade students are invited to the Junior High Halloween Dance on Friday, October 28, from 7-9 PM in the cafeteria.  Cost is $5 in advance and $7 at the door.  Tickets are on sale in homeroom October 24-27.
No Cash in Cafeteria

VERY IMPORTANT! Parents and students are reminded that cash is not accepted as payment for lunch in the cafeteria. Please update your lunch account through the MMS portal. If you must use cash, it must be placed in an envelope with the student's name and amount on the outside and turned into the office prior to homeroom.

Art Needed for Bishop Gainer's Christmas Card
Bishop Gainer is looking for talented artists to illustrate the cover of his annual Christmas card. This contest will allow students to portray the real reason for the Christmas season, an interpretation of the birth of Jesus Christ as seen through the student's eyes.

The theme of the card is religious and all mediums are accepted, however, no entry can be larger than 11 x 17. Submit art to Mrs. Lalic or Ms. Heist by November 1. Winners will be announced by November 30 and treated to a lunch with Bishop Gainer on Monday, December 12, at 12:00 noon at the diocesan center.
In Case You Missed It...
York Catholic held its Fall Open House last Sunday and welcomed numerous students and families to tour the school and consider YC for their education. Thank you to our Student Ambassadors for hosting the tours and welcoming the students and their parents to our family. If you know of anyone who might want to consider York Catholic, please contact Ms. Hoffman at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x20.
