A Message from the President
Mike Dyer
Education is the foundation that our community's success is built upon.  The students of today will be the workforce of tomorrow, and it is imperative that they are equipped with the knowledge and abilities to meet ever-changing workforce demands.  We are fortunate that our community offers many opportunities for the public to be involved in our school system's classrooms.

Jumpstart's  Read for the Record campaign is one such opportunity that I would like to encourage you to consider participating in.  This national program  was launched over a decade ago to address the educational inequities that leave too many children unprepared for kindergarten. On Thursday, October 27, 2016 , children and adults will gather to learn, laugh, and read this year's campaign book, The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach , as part of the world's largest shared reading experience. Read for the Record inspires adults to read with children, spurs policymakers and organizations to take action towards transformative change in early education, and puts books in the hands of more children across the country.

I encourage each of you to consider volunteering to read at a local elementary school during this event.  This is a tangible opportunity that can make a lasting impression and can help to ensure that these children see the investment the community is making in them.  I challenge you to "Rise Up" and give an hour of your time to foster a love of reading and a desire to learn in the minds of our young, growing, learning, future workforce.
