Gorgeous music for a Michigan fall, including the big and bold opener, Shake the Rafters by Los Angeles-based composer Jon Bailey; a rhythmic new setting of Simple Gifts; the hilarious Carmina Ricotta by Seattle theatrical composer Eric Lane Barnes; Four Folk Hymns for Harp and Choir (John Rutter); a selection to rock the house, the Zambian folk song Bonse Aba; John Bucchino's lovely ballad Grateful; and the big finale Go Light your World.

Jonathan Girard returns for a second appearance with the Holland Symphony to conduct this concert with special guest Alicia Eppinga.  Alicia is the principal cellist with the Grand Rapids Symphony and is performing a concerto written for her by Alexander Miller, composer and oboist also with Grand Rapids Symphony.  Girard is the  Director of Orchestras at University of British Columbia School of Music, Canada.

La Belle Vie: The Good Life is a story about Haitian­ American filmmaker Rachelle Salnave's journey to discover her Haitian roots by examining the complexities of the overall political and economic dichotomy in Haiti.

After the film, Rachelle Salnave (director and producer) and Jean H. Marcelin (director of photography) will answer questions and discuss the film.
