Dear School Families,
Happy Fall! A Giant
THANK YOU
to all the parents, students, parishioners, and staff who made Morefest a huge success! Our very fun event brought in almost $49,000 after expenses. That is $11,000 more than last year! The new favorite of the event had to be the dunk tank where Mr. Olsen, Ms. Koenig, Novitiate Rob, and Mr. Pryor gracefully took to the water every time the ball connected with the large push button.
We have finished our fall NWEA MAP tests in K-8. You will see the results of your child's progress at Conferences next week. Don't forget that teachers want to see you and your child at your chosen time. We love to hear our students talk about their successes and challenges at school, and see them make smart goals for the rest of the school year.
I also want to pay a special compliment to the 8th graders this year. They have been doing great work as leaders in our school, and we are grateful to have their energy and focus on important school issues. Last spring at our commissioning ceremony, I asked them to step into the leadership of the school and they have exceeded my expectations already. Thank you Grade 8 for being such thoughtful leaders. Our year is sure to be blessed by your positive attitude and commitment to our school!

Apple Picking at Afton!
Our kindergartners, first and second graders went on a field trip to Afton Apple Orchard this week. We learned all about the life cycle of an apple and how apples even have to wear sunscreen! Each student was able to pick a few apples from the trees and a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to take home! We sampled home-made apple cider too! It was a fun time had by all on a gorgeous fall day!
We send out special good wishes to one of our first grade teachers pictured here with some of her students. Ms Amy Denning will be married to Blake Gillen next weekend at STM. Our best wishes and God's blessings on them!

We NEED your Box Tops!!! Get busy clipping those Box Tops. October is the month to turn them into cash for our school. We collected almost $700 last year for our school.
A few places to look for boxtops.....

2. Do not forget your tissue boxes and office supplies.

LUNCH BUNCH
Attention 3-5th grade parents:
If you have a son or daughter who has experienced divorce, and you feel s/he would benefit from taking part in a divorce support group, I would look forward to working with your child. The purpose of the group is to allow children to express their feelings in a supportive enviornment, realize they are not alone as children who have experienced or are experienceing divorce, and to help children learn problem-solving and coping skills in dealing with divorce.The group (called, "The Lunch Bunch") would meet in Ms. Livingston's office during lunch time on Thursdays.
If you are interested in having your child participate in the group, please email Jenna Jovellana, the school counseling intern, to sign up by Monday, October 24.
The Lunch Bunch will plan to meet for the first time on Thursday, October 27.

Would you like to be an Altar Server? We will be hosting a Training Session for new Altar Servers on Saturday, October 29, from 8:30 to 11:30am in the church. This ministry is open to students in grades 5 and up who are baptized Roman Catholic, registered STM parishioners and a regular attendee at STM's weekend masses. To register for this training or for more information, contact Dana at

or 651.227.7669. Once you are fully trained, you can serve at School Masses in addition to Sunday liturgies.

Adult Men's Morning Basketball
For those of you adult men (18+) who enjoy shooting hoops, there is interest in getting together for a weekly early morning men's basketball game on Friday mornings.
First game is this Friday morning at 6:30AM!

Calling all Adult Athletes...
It's time again for Adult Volleyball! Don't let winter turn you into a couch potato. Get a "work out" and enjoy some friendly competition.
We play Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 PM starting October 26th, 2016.
All members of our community, 18 and older, are welcome to join us in the school gymnasium for exercise and some laughs!
All athletes are welcome; from beginners to the well-conditioned!
