SWCA Synod Recovery and Spirituality Team

Living out our baptism is a daily dying to the power of sin. This is no truer than for those who suffer from addiction and seek God's grace and healing in their lives.

In Christ, we can experience wellness and newness of life. In a society saturated with fear, ignorance and judgment, our church can offer a welcomed word of acceptance, truth, forgiveness, and newness of life to those who feel they must hide in shame and suffer in isolation.

Addiction infiltrates our family of faith, weakens our overall health and vitality, and impairs our witness and service to the world.

Read about the mission and objectives of the SWCA Synod Recovery and Spirituality Team, along with a powerful testimony by Pastor Dan Gibson, here

What does the legacy of Dr. King have to say to us today, in an age of wars, ISIS, and Black Lives Matter? Much of the interfaith conversation between Muslims and Christians takes place at a theological level. This talk is going to direct us to a different pl ane, that of the prophetic tradition of being concerned with "the least" of God's children.  The conversation will be led by Dr. Omid Safi,  a professor of Islamic Studies at Duke University who specializes in contemporary Islamic thought and Islamic spirituality.

This event will be live streamed and available On Demand for those that are unable to attend onsite. You can watch here any time after the event:   www.CalLutheran.edu/live

June 28 - July 2, 2017

What is it that you dream about? What is it that you hope for yourself? What is God calling you into and what dream has God placed in your head?

The sacred texts of Old and New Testaments are loaded with stories of dreaming big. In fact the dreams are so big that God's people can hardly apprehend them.

The 2017 Western States Youth Gathering will use the theme of DREAM BIG as a way to peek into the way God is calling out to us and then through us, calling us to act.

Why should you attend this event with this theme?  Far too frequently the dreams we have are squashed:
  • by the voices of others,
  • by a lack of self-confidence,
  • by social expectations,
  • by racial divides,
  • by a lack of imagination.
Time to stop allowing the voices of others to dictate the dreams you have.  Time to start relying more on the influence, grace, and power of God to help your dreams into reality.  After all...God planted those big dreams there to begin with.
