What's God Got to Do With It?
What do Unitarian Universalists believe about God, anyway? Whatever our idea of God: Holy, Divine, Mother, Father, Gaia, Great Spirit, Infinite Oneness, non-existent, there is room for all of us in Unitarian Universalism. Join us as we explore together different conceptions of God in our theologically diverse faith.
Please consider providing flowers in celebration or in memory of someone or something special in your life. Select a Sunday and note your intention in the
Flower Book in the lobby.

As the permanent quartet-in-residence of Music Haven, the Haven String Quartet's mission is to integrate music and creative endeavor into community life. The quartet provides access to free music education and world class chamber music performances to residents in New Haven's most marginalized neighborhoods. In conjunction with these activities, the Haven String Quartet actively performs in other communities, providing engaging performances in traditional concert halls and reaching
new audiences in non-classical venues.
One of their favorite concert halls is the sanctuary at the Unitarian Society of New Haven. In return for use of our sanctuary they share their talents and expertise at several Sunday services during the year. We are grateful for their presence in our space.

FOOD BANK
Please remember to bring an item for the Food Bank on Sunday.
We aid not only our neighbors in Hamden, but also those among us who can use some help with food supplies.
We are asking USNHers to become aware of all our local candidates, and be an advocate with elected officials in the next year for the
Prevention of Gun Violence.
As the elections near, the
Preventing Gun Violence Task Force
is recommending that we contact our local candidates for office to ask them about their stances on gun safety (and let them know ours!). You can check out the candidates' positions @ CAGV.org and just search for Candidates Gun Sense grades.
Local state senate and state house of representatives numbers are the following: House Dems @ 800.842.8267, Senate Dems @ 800.842.1420
Ask to speak to your legislator (If you get an aide or a machine, just leave a message with your thoughts) and
1) ask about their views on gun violence prevention
2) share your views on gun safety
3) let them know that you are a USNH member. Remember to contact your national representatives, too, thanking them for their excellent support of gun safety.
If you need assistance in getting this information, please contact
We want to be helpful in making sure every member of USNH is in touch with their federal, state and local legislators and makes them aware of their views on
gun violence prevention.
Thank you
USNHers really came through
in donating camping gear
for the Standing Rock Sioux water and
land protectors in North Dakota!
Ann Levison and I just returned from dropping off two carloads of gear and warm clothes (from my Grove co-working site) to the Native American Cultural Center at Yale, where they were much appreciated and they'll be on their way shortly to N.D..
On a related note, we're holding a second local action at one of the banks that's helping to fund the Dakota Access pipeline. We'll be at the Wells Fargo bank branch on the corner of the New Haven Green at Church and Elm streets on
Thursday, Oct. 20, from
4:30-5:30 p.m. Please come and bring signs and noisemakers.
We are still in need of snack folks for 11/27 and 12/18
and coffee volunteers for 12/11!
