The Halloween season is upon us and Clark Street in Lincoln Park knows how to celebrate! With its festive Scarecrows on Parade lining the corridor and the annual Spooktacular extravaganza coming up, the busy shopping district is abuzz with frightful laughter. Learn all about the tricks and treats happening on Clark Street and Diversey Parkway in this month's newsletter!

Neighborhood News, Events & Reminders

Zombies and clowns and witches, oh my! Costumes revelers will find plenty of surprises as they load-up on tasty treasures on Clark Street and Diversey Parkway. Trick-or-treaters will find mesmerizing magicians, jugglers, and stilt walkers. Visitors will also enjoy costume contests for adults and children, festive activities hosted by area merchants, special savings at participating restaurants, and an afternoon of family fun.

When: Sunday, October 30, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Where: Businesses along Clark Street from Armitage to Diversey, and the south side of Diversey from Orchard to Lakeview

Schedule:
1:00-4:00 p.m. | Trick-­or-­treating, magic and roaming entertainment
2:00-4:00 p.m. | Spooktacular Costume Contest (2558 N. Clark)
3:30-4:00 p.m. | Scarecrows on Parade Winners Announcement (2558 N. Clark)




During the month of October, Clark Street is transformed into a creative, funny, and frightening corridor! Nearly 20 participating businesses are displaying one-of-a-kind scarecrow creations in their storefront windows through October 31st. Vote now for your favorite scarecrow at VisitClarkStreet.com/Spooktacular.

New this year! Elementary students from the Francis W. Parker School have planned, designed, and created scarecrows to help decorate the corridor. Shoppers, diners, and strollers on Clark Street can take a peak at these student creations at 2320 N. Clark and then  vote for their favorite student scarecrows!   

When: October 8-31. Vote for your favorite scarecrows by 2:00 p.m. on October 30! 


Where: Businesses along Clark Street from Armitage to Diversey, and the south side of Diversey from Orchard to Lakeview

Voting:  There are 4 voting categories this year: Spookiest Scarecrow, Most Creative Scarecrow, Funniest Scarecrow, and Favorite Student Scarecrow. Each scarecrow is eligible to win in only one category. 

Voters will automatically be entered for a chance to win prizes from neighborhood businesses. Voting ends at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30. Scarecrows winners will be announced at Clark Street's Spooktacular.





Any other details to know?
Both events and all activities are free and family friendly! Our costume contest at 2558 N. Clark is for all ages, so make sure the whole family has their costumes ready to go! Categories include: 

  • Group
  • Ages 14 ­- Adult
  • Ages 10 ­- 13
  • Ages 6 ­- 9
  • Ages 3 ­- 5
  • Ages 0 ­- 2
Over $500 in prizes will be given to costume contest winners and Scarecrows on Parade voters!

Lincoln Park will be creeping and crawling with witches, goblins and superheroes all day long, so plan accordingly. Public transportation, riding your bike, or walking are all great options to save time and avoid parking nightmares!
