FALLS PREVENTION MONTH

November is Falls Prevention Month across Canada. These resources will give you information on falls prevention programs and activities/materials you can use to increase awareness of falls prevention with the seniors you serve.

Finding Balance campaign developed by the Injury Prevention Centre (Alberta)
The 2016 Finding Balance Campaign focuses on three key messages:
  • Keep Active: encourages seniors to keep moving to stay healthy and independent
  • Check Your Vision: focuses on creating awareness around seniors' eye health, vision care, and the steps they can take to reduce falls due to poor vision
  • Review Your Medications: encourages seniors to speak with their doctor or pharmacist about all prescribed drugs, over-the counter pills, vitamins and herbal supplements they are taking
Campaign resources include event ideas, campaign guide and resources such as infographics, postcards and brochures.
