Registration for Passport: Round Trip to Health is Underway

It's time to pick a travel companion and pack your bags for a healthier lifestyle!

DPS employees who register by Oct. 24 can embark on a virtual worldwide journey to better health with Passport, visiting popular tourist attractions as well as out-of-the-way gems. Each week you'll touch down in a new country -- enjoying the postcard-perfect images and vivid descriptions -- as you earn points and patches for recording health habits. You can even win a real trip to the mountains!

In this six-week international journey to feeling your best, your Passport goal is to accumulate 600 points by recording exercise minutes, fruit and vegetable servings, and hours of sleep each day. You can earn bonus points by answering a Country Quiz correctly, and joining a weekly Tour Bus.

And, if you and your travel partner each earn 600 points, you will be entered to win a vacation get-away to the mountains!
Don't miss out on this trip of a lifetime.

Registration ends Oct. 24; head to https://dps.roundtriptohealth.com to register today.
Top 5: Celebrating College and Career Readiness Month
We asked you what you are doing to help our kids graduate college and career ready. The answer? Tons! Congrats to our random prizewinner Monica Gonzalez Reyes from Goldrick Elementary. Everyone had some amazing answers. Here the Top 5:

"I created a presentation for my kindergarten kids including pictures of myself in kindergarten, 5th grade, 7th grade, high-school graduation and college graduation. I shared with them my story about becoming a teacher. They were very excited about it. I told them: Keep in mind, impossible means I am possible."
--  Monica Gonzalez Reyes, Goldrick Elementary

"At MLK, we have a big college-going culture. Some of our activities in October: College Bowl: An interactive college-focused assembly and pep rally with lots of college swag; College Tuesdays: Students can wear college gear every Tuesday; College Visits: Middle school students will visit a college campus; College Presentations: Teachers will present a slide show on their alma mater and share some of their college experiences; Goal Pennants: Students will complete a "college pennant" with the college of their choice or their postsecondary goal."

-- Nettie Welk, Martin Luther King Jr. Early College

"I am partnering with students and other teachers to create/implement Transition Assessment plans for youth with IEPs so that they have the information they need to make informed choices about what supports/resources/instruction they need to have in place to reach their goals for career, college & positive community impact."

-- Courtney Kallas, ACEConnect Transition Services

"At Hill Campus of Arts and Sciences ... we don't talk about IF students go to postsecondary education but WHEN students go to postsecondary education and that no matter what they choose to do after they graduate high school (with a seal of bi-literacy), they will need to continue their education."

-- Adam Creapo, Hill Campus of Arts and Sciences

"In third grade at Park Hill, we are using AVID strategies to begin getting students ready for their advanced learning years. We have a calendar/planner that they use every day to keep organized with their homework and dates for when things are happening at school. We use two and three column notes to keep order in our learning. They WILL be ready for college."

-- Lori Gates, Park Hill Elementary

Top 5 Callout: National Principals Month

It's National Principals Month. So, for the Top 5 this week, we are wondering what makes your principal special? Please share with us what your principal does to encourage you or your team to help Every Child Succeed, and you'll be entered for a chance to win a DPS prize!

Benefits Terms Decoded: Video Visits for Kaiser Members

Team DPS, are you ready to play Benefits Terms Jeopardy? Here's how you play to win:

First, Benefits Terms Decoded: We'll "decode" one new benefits term in Team DPS Weekly every week through Oct. 20 (that's four new terms), and tell you more about how you can save time and money utilizing services provided by Kaiser and DHMP.

Second, starting Oct. 27, we'll test your knowledge of those terms. We'll ask a question. If you email us the correct answer, you'll be entered to win a prize. Winners are selected at random.

Now, for our second "decoded term": Video Visits. Video Visits for Kaiser members are an alternative to in-person care. As long as you're registered on kp.org and have access to the proper technology, you can work with your provider to determine whether your needs can be met in a Video Visit. Kaiser Permanente physicians, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants who provide scheduled outpatient care, in all specialties, adult and pediatric primary care can offer care by video.
