Surprise Celebration for Mrs. Pierce!
Principals Advocacy Award Winner
Mrs. Pierce will be presented with an award next Thursday at the Florida Association for Media in Education Conference. The award was created in 2004 to recognize a principal or assistant principal who supports the development of exemplary school library programs; supports the integration of school library programs, resources, and technologies into the total educational process; and/or implements research-based library media programs.We love the Learning Commons and the cupcakes! Thank you for your vision!
Blood Drive at SFC Tomorrow
Please consider donating blood with us tomorrow (Thursday, 10/13), from 8:00am-1:00pm. Due to the recent damage of Hurricane Matthew blood donations are now considered urgent. All parents and students (16+) are welcome to join us in saving lives by donating blood.  Students, see Ms. McBride to sign up. Parents, join us at any time.

Opportunity for Service Hours
Parent volunteers are needed to assist with Bingo on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons, your time can be applied towards your SFC parent volunteer hours. Contact Bill Cullen for more details: 863.409.4966.
A-Team

A-Team won their first competition vs. KHS, LHS, RCHS, and FMHS led by Connor Lovely and Frank Vecchio. SFC is hosting the next competition on Tuesday, October 18 at 3:00pm in the MPC. Plan to come and cheer them on! 

Learning Commons
Microsoft 365
SFC students can download and install Microsoft Office on up to five devices (this includes laptops, mobile devices, and desktop computers). All students have been given login information to do this. Students login at: portal.office.com . Please email Mrs. Lopez at [email protected]  with any questions.
Advancement News
Tailgate Party to be Rescheduled The Tailgate Party will be rescheduled to the next home football game - date TBA.

13th Annual Hawks' Scramble Golf Tournament
Dear Parents,
You should have received a letter last week regarding Class Baskets for the upcoming golf tournament. This year the themes for the baskets are as follows:
 
Seniors: "Golf" Basket
Juniors: "Movie Night" Basket
Sophomores: "For the Athlete" Basket
Freshmen: "For the Ladies" Basket
 
Please send your item or money in by October 31st, or sooner, with a note marked "Advancement Office" so that we can assemble the baskets before the tournament. Thank you for your continued support!

Soccer: Boys' Soccer tryouts are Monday, October 17th at 6:00pm.   
  
Basketball: Girls' Basketball begins October 24th, and Boys' Basketball begins October 31st. Watch for tryout times.

Cross Country: Dreadnaught Invitational 5k was 10/8 at Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland. Maddie Werd placed 3rd overall girl, running a personal best of 20:30. Luis Davila placed 15th overall boy, also running a personal best of 18:22. The Polk County Championship meet is this Saturday, 10/15, at Lake Region High School in Eagle Lake. District 1A-10 meet is 10/22 at Foundation Academy in Winter Garden. Congratulations to both Maddie and Luis!

Swimming: A word from Coach Sheffield, "Kristina has put a lot of effort into the 100 yard free this season and it has paid off, as she won county. I think she is capable of going faster and the county meet was just the beginning of what she can d o." Congratulations Kristina!

Mandatory Forms Needed to Participate in Sports
All students participating in sports MUST have a sports physical dated after June 1st, 2016. Print the following highlighted links ( EL2 and EL3) and make sure you take the EL2 with you and have it signed by the doctor. Both completed forms must be turned in to the front office prior to participating in practice.
 
Athletic Passes for the 2016-2017 School Year
Adult: $75 per pass, Student: $25 per pass
Good for all SFC home games except playoff games.

Update on Spring Break 2017 Europe Trip
Santa Fe is coordinating a trip to Italy from March 16-26, 2017. The 11-day itinerary includes Rome, Assisi, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Verona, Milan, Genoa, and Cinque Terre. The cost per student is $3,515. This price includes airfare, hotels, breakfast and dinner daily, a tour director, admissions to attractions on the itinerary, tips for the tour director and bus driver. The sign-up deadline is December 1.  Adult family members are welcome as well; there is a $445 supplemental cost for adults.
