Dear Friends of the Historic Lewes Farmer Market

Thanks to all of your efforts, the Lewes City Council voted unanimously Monday night to extend the Market's stay at George H.P. Smith Park for another three years. This is a great outcome for the Market as it gives us the time to have a stable location, allows us to take a closer look at the market layout, and gives us six months to plan for an even better Market in 2017 . The unanimous vote reflected an appreciation of the HLFM's contribution to our community from providing access for all to local fresh foods, to supporting sustainable farmers in Delaware, and creating a meeting place for the community.

We know that the Council was greatly influenced by all the letters and emails that you sent to them requesting that the Market be allowed to stay in the park. This was stated by several Council members in the meeting.

Special thanks to all the farmers and producers, the soul of the Market, who came to the meetings and spoke out so eloquently for small farms in Delaware.

The Market is the heartbeat of Lewes, and we thank the community for stepping forward in support.

As always, we look forward to seeing you at Market!
