Greetings Friends!
I hope this October day finds you well!

I recently had a friend call me because he had an Achilles pain for more than eighteen months. He is a cyclist and extremely active. He had treatment in the past, which helped up to a point but his Achilles never got totally better. As a result of his frustration on the phone, I asked him to come in to let me examine him.

After examining him and hearing his story, I thought he needed one of our certified Astym physical therapists to assess his case. I am presently not certified but have seen this technique work in many chronic pain cases and I thought he might be a perfect candidate.

Our therapist thought he was a great fit. She started using this treatment and he was back to cycling and exercising in seven treatments! He presently has no pain.

What exactly is this Astym treatment? It's a treatment that is used for chronic soft tissue problems which are due to scarring or degeneration. We know that scarring and degeneration of tissue are common and can result in pain and limitations in movement. Degenerated tissues are weak and prone to injury. Degeneration can be caused by many factors, including age, intense use, improper movement, weakened muscles putting extra stress on other tissues, disease, etc. Most chronic tendinopathies are primarily degenerative in nature. This was the case of my friend.

The good news, as stated by the studies from Astym, is that it works both to regenerate tissues and eliminate or reduce internal scar tissue. By eliminating the cause of your problems, your symptoms will resolve. Additional good news related to this particular therapy is that the injured person can continue to exercise during his or her treatment.

So, if you are experiencing chronic pain in any part of your body please come in to get examined. If you would like to research this treatment, go to Astym.com.
.
I hope you are continuing to take control of your body health and attempting to get stronger every day!

Enjoy!
Fran
