Finding Words Oklahoma

FindingWordsOklahoma Finding Words Oklahoma is a training program that provides child abuse professionals a comprehensive introduction to a forensic interview process to improve one's ability to effectively and reliably interview children about abuse. From October 10, 2016 thru October 14, 2016, Rose Turner (CAN's Managing Director) participated as a faculty member, in providing this training to child abuse professionals, from across Oklahoma. Ali Kern and Jessica Scott (Child Specialists at CAN) attended as participants.

There were 34 professionals participating in this training which included child welfare, District Attorney, law enforcement and mental health personnel from various multidisciplinary teams across the state. The training was conducted at the JD McCarty Center in Norman, Ok. This five-day training included lecture materials, role-play interviews applying the techniques learned, as well as a written test. Participants found the training to be very worthwhile and effective in learning new techniques to apply and incorporate into their local multidisciplinary team response to child abuse and neglect.
