We are so excited to kick off our monthly newsletter for families in our Before and After-School Programs!
Our goal is to provide you with updates, resources, stories and proud moments. We hope you find it fun, useful and informative.
How We Reach Our Mission
"Camp Fire's mission is to provide youth with opportunities to discover the best in themselves and others in fun and safe learning environments."

How do we do this?
Every day our staff strive to plan thoughtful and meaningful activities which challenge children socially, emotionally, and mentally. At Camp Fire, there is deep value placed on strengthening Social and Emotional Skills (SEL), and we look to provide experiences which promote healthy choices.

In our program, we help youth learn
to be aware of their thoughts and feelings, to be mindful and caring towards others, and to think critically and creatively about the day-to-day challenges they may face.

Stay tuned through the coming months to learn more about how we incorporate these key learning areas in a fun and engaging way. Let us know what you think!

Peace Place
Throughout September, Camp Fire staff focused on how to build a peaceful and caring environment.

What is a Peace Place?
It is a soothing place in program where children can go to practice self-regulation and calm themselves if they are upset. It may include soothing items such as a pillow or rug, stress balls/fidget items, sensory toys or a feelings poster.

Who utilizes the Peace Place?
This space is open to all children, and its use is encouraged by staff when a child is experiencing heightened emotions.

When would my child use the Peace Place?
Any child who is feeling upset and unable to calm down can excuse themselves and go to the Peace Place. It is not a "time-out" or punishment, but rather a  self-selected intervention to manage feelings.
