Malachi's Volunteers Star in Promos for Atlanta Community Food Bank!

Recently the ACFB came to St. Patrick's with a video crew to interview several of our volunteers about food scarcity and how the ACFB impacts their life. The interviews will appear as short ads for the ACFB to be aired on social media and as movie trailers in theaters. We will keep you posted as to when the ads air and will share them with you!

THE OPEN DOOR PROJECT!

Face it, doors are under appreciated. No one really pays attention to them. They open, they close, they lock, they keep out the elements. And one day the doors don't work properly, and then they finally get the attention they deserve.

This is the story of the doors that have served Malachi's Storehouse for 25 years, through which we have moved 500,000 lbs of food in just this past year alone. It was clearly time to pay attention to the doors!

Malachi's annual budget is allocated strictly for food so the expense of these new doors has hit us hard. The project cost $3500, which included all hardware and labor. We diligently shopped around for the very best price for industrial strength hardware, which is necessary due to the volume of food we move through them, particularly with a pallet driver. (Many thanks to Ramsay Hall for overseeing the door project).

Bottom line is, we are asking for donations to help off-set this expense. Would you please make a small (or large) donation to Malachi's to help cover the cost of the door project?

Hunger Action Month!

Judi Carlson, Co-Director of Malachi's Storehouse, brought this message in September to Kittredge Magnet School students and faculty to raise awareness of the impact of hunger on children and families in our community.

Kittredge hosted a canned food drive to support Hunger Action Month. Notice the great visual display on the bulletin board that Judi created and the 1,200 canned goods and non-perishable food items that were collected!

Kingswood United Methodist Church donated the unsold items from their Kidstuff Consignment Sale to Malachi's! We have been the recipient for several years now and our clients love the baby/children's clothing, toys and goods that we receive from them each time. And thanks to our MSH volunteers who sorted and transported the donated items to St. Patrick's!
