Simchat Torah Service & Consecration of New Students
Sunday, October 23, 10:30 AM

Few services are as exhilarating or uplifting as our Simchat Torah celebration.  Join us Sunday morning, October 23rd at 10:30 AM (note the early time) as we celebrate completing our Torah reading cycle and a new school year.  Together we will take all our Torahs out of the ark and parade with them 7 times around our sanctuary.  Keeping one scroll out, together we will completely unroll the entire Torah before we chant the last part of Deuteronomy and the first verses of Genesis. At the conclusion of the Torah service, we change our Torah Mantles back from the Holy Day white to the beautiful green covers.  Join us for this service celebrating the Torah.

Our entire religious school will be joining in this service.  We need as many parents as possible to stay that morning to assist as we unroll the Torah for all to see.  Of course this is a wonderful service for all our members.  It's the only time each year when the entire scroll is completely open for all to see.  Make sure to join us.

Best Year's Lunch in the Sukkah
Thursday, October 20, Noon

One of our traditional practices is to eat meals in the Sukkah during our Sukkot festival.  Join Rabbi Greenbaum on Thursday, October 20 at noon for a nice deli lunch in the CBI Sukkah.  The rabbi is providing all the fixings for a delicious corned beef sandwich lunch.   Good mustard, some coleslaw, nice rye bread and even some delicious pickles will be on the buffet.   All you need to bring is yourself.  The tables and chairs will be set up for us.  In case of weather issues, we will move inside for our holiday meal.  This is another free lunch for all of us to enjoy.  To RSVP for this gathering call the CBI office at 624-2015.  Also, let us know if you need a ride to this event.

LAST WEEK!  CBI Annual High Holy Days Food Drive

Now through this Friday, October 21, in support of the Monterey County Food Bank; please bring bags filled with canned and non-perishable foods back to CBI so we may add the mitzvah of Tzedakah to our High Holy observance.

This is an excellent chance to make a difference in our community. We welcome you to join us in this effort to help our less fortunate neighbors. The food and funds we raise will help the Food Bank for Monterey County Bank to supply food to thousands of low-income families, senior citizens and other individuals in need.

Collection bins and grocery bags to make your donation with, will be in the foyer at CBI.
