 The World Affairs Councils of America is delighted to announce a special dinner with Tom Friedman
on
Friday, November 18, at 6:30 - 8:30 PM
. Internationally renowned author, reporter, and columnist Thomas L. Friedman has been awarded three Pulitzer Prizes for his journalism and he has written six bestselling books, among them From Beirut to Jerusalem and The World Is Flat. (Full bio.)
This event follows the official conclusion of the Conference (see agenda) - and it is free for members of the 1918 Society. Others who wish to attend this special dinner may purchase tickets here for $100 each

With generous support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, WACA is delighted to present a fresh Engage America Speaker Series on American Policy in the Middle East for a New Administration. Eight World Affairs Councils will participate in the program which is designed to inform the American public about policy options in response to opportunities as well as the multiple interconnected crises in the Middle East. By bringing together policymakers and experts from the U.S. in public forums hosted by Councils, members of the public will benefit from balanced and high-level analysis to which they would not otherwise have access.

Future of Korea 2016 Program Series

The World Affairs Councils of America is sponsoring an Engage America Speaker Series on the
Future of Korea in collaboration with the
Korea Economic Institute. The program is focused on broadening and deepening the understanding of Korea and the U.S.-Korea relationship among opinion leaders and academics. The centerpiece of the program is a three-person panel discussion, usually consisting of one representative each from the U.S. Department of State, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and KEI.

Israel and Its Counter-Terrorism Strategies
|
The
Alaska World Affairs Council
will host a luncheon event
Friday, October 21, at 12:00 - 1:00 PM
with Israeli diplomat and author Ishmael Khaldi on Israel's counter-terrorism strategy. Council CEO Lise Falskow, who participated in WACA's Israel Leadership Mission in June, will moderate the discussion.
Before joining the Foreign Ministry in 2004 as Israel's first Bedouin diplomat. Khaldi served in the Israeli Defense Forces,
Defense Ministry, and the Israeli Police.
Khaldi has served in the ministry's Arabic Media Departmen
t and the North American Division; he was Israel's Deputy
Consul General in San Francisco (2006-09), a
policy
advisor to Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, and Counselor for Civil Society Affairs in the Embassy of Israel in London (2012-15).

will hold a series of foreign policy forums featuring the Democratic and Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate, in partnership with Southern NH University College Republicans, NH College Democrats, and NH Young Democrats.

The forums, exploring each candidate's views on America's role in the world, will be moderated by Civic Scholar Dean Spiliotes with questions from attendees.
