UTM Convention 2016 is all about the very best speakers, the most cutting edge industry partners, and unique, targeted programming. What more could you want in a conference?
Leaders from NASA, FAA, and industry are gathering in Syracuse to discuss the future of UTM. Don't miss out.

Featured Keynote

Victoria B. Wassmer, Acting Deputy Administrator, FAA

Victoria Wassmer is the FAA's Acting Deputy Administrator. She is responsible for helping to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the world's largest and most complex aerospace system. As Chief NextGen Officer, she is also leading the FAA's transformation and modernization of the nation's air traffic control system from a radar-based system with radio communication to a satellite-based system that leverages new technologies to shorten routes, reduce fuel consumption and traffic delays, increase capacity, and improve safety.

UTM Safety Considerations and Vehicle Technologies for Low-Altitude Autonomous Urban Flight

Wednesday, Nov. 9: 11:15 AM - 12:30 PM

Moderator:
Diana Acosta, NASA/ARC

The most difficult phase of small UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) deployment is autonomous operations over populated areas and in proximity to manned aircraft operations. In addition, operations below 50 ft. in urban landscapes add significant risk due to small operational areas in very close proximity to the public. Understanding the feasibility of safely flying small UAS autonomously below 50 ft. in the context of the UTM construct is necessary for many civilian applications. Solutions that will help substantially improve the use of small UAS in urban operations are the focus of this NASA panel discussion. Learn more about this panel.

Confirmed panelists include:
  • Kalmanje Krishnakumar, NASA/ARC
  • Christine Belcastro, NASA/LARC
  • Steve Young, NASA/LARC
  • Guillaume Brat, NASA/ARFC
