CLOCC Now Accepting Nominees for the 2016 Katherine Kaufer Christoffel Founder's Award

CLOCC is now seeking nominations for the 2016 Katherine Kaufer Christoffel Founder's Award, presented annually in honor of the Consortium's Founder and Medical and Research Director, Dr. Katherine Kaufer Christoffel. 

The award honors an individual who has shown a passion for the cause of childhood obesity prevention in Chicago by demonstrating outstanding leadership, collaboration and innovation. The nominee should be working to implement or advance the strategies laid out in CLOCC's Blueprint. The submission period will extend through 5:00 p.m. CT, Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The winner will be honored at CLOCC's Quarterly Meeting on December 7.

RSVP for CLOCC's November 2 fiveSMART™ Training Opportunity

Research has shown that the need for promoting healthy weight starts at the earliest stages. Join CLOCC on Wednesday, November 2, for a free community message training and exploration of  five SMART™ , a new prenatal and early-childhood (0-3yr) health message.
Designed to be a companion for 5-4-3-2-1 Go!, an advisory council of local experts has developed fiveSMART as a tool for communicating the importance of: This  five SMART  training opportunity is especially useful for early-childhood health providers, who represent an important source of information for families of young children. This includes day care providers, pediatricians, OB physicians, family practitioners and home visitors.
Limited paid local parking is available. Broadway Armory Park is adjacent to the CTA Thorndale Red Line Station and a Divvy station is located directly in front of the park. Click on the link below to RSVP.

Funding and Recognition Opportunities

America Walks and the Every Body Walk! Collaborative have announced a second year of Micro Grant Funding. This program will award grantees up to $1,500.00 for projects related to increasing walking and walkability.   Funded projects will increase walking and benefits of walkability in communities, work to develop the walking movement by growing the number and diversity of people and organizations pushing for more walkability, and they should make walking safe, easy, and enjoyable for all community members. The deadline is November 18th at 5PM ET. 

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is accepting applications for the  2017 RWJF Culture of Health Prize, which "recognizes and celebrates communities that are bringing partners together to improve health for all residents. Communities can compete to receive a $25,000 cash prize and the chance to share their accomplishments with the nation." The deadline is November 3rd.
