Choosing An Item
Choosing an OGAP item to use with a particular lesson is a skill you will hone as you understand and internalize the OGAP Multiplicative Framework and as you gain experience choosing and using OGAP items.  Keep in mind there is not "one right" item, rather there are numerous choices based on the lesson and the learning goals you want to address.  Almost any question you choose will provide you with some evidence of your students' developing understandings and needs that can help you reflect on your instruction and make informed instructional decisions. One way to begin exploring the item bank is by selecting a particular problem context, like Equal Groups or Multiplicative Comparison. Remember that the problem contexts are also listed in the purple box on the front of your framework with examples on the back page.  Once you've chosen a context,  scroll through the items to pick one that seems like it reflects the right level of difficulty and complexity for your students. 

Action Item
If you aren't already doing so, try using an OGAP item as an exit question for one of your math lessons this week. Choose an item from the item bank, and administer the item to your class at the end of a lesson. How do your students' responses compare to what you expected? Did anything surprise you? Was the item a good choice for an exit slip for this lesson? Why or why not?
