Wellness Committee!!
Try It Tuesday!!
Once a month during Tuesday lunch period the SAS Wellness committee will feature a lesser known fruit or vegetable for students to try.  The fruit or vegetable will be presented in its most natural state with minimal to no added ingredients. There will be a health and fun fact information sheet in all the classrooms to provide discussion around the tasting event. The parents will receive information and recipes here in the Home and School newsletter. Even our lunch service, Gourmet Gorilla joins in the fun by featuring the chosen item in a few of their hot lunch meals. We end the taste test with a student body vote of either 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down'. For more info contact Andrea Heffernan at [email protected]

Cafeteria Wellness Board--Our message to the students is:  Think your Drink for Exercise.  There is information on various drinks used during exercise, practices or games. Clearly, for what most of our children are engaging in for exercise, water is the preferred hydration beverage.  Sports drinks are acceptable but keep in mind the added sugars and usually unnecessary electrolytes.  Vitamin waters and Energy drinks are not recommended for children.  You can view this information on the cafeteria bulletin board.
