Math Professional Development Session for Faculty
Monday, October 17th
On Monday, Kindergarten through Fifth-grade teachers will take part in the first of a three day math professional development workshop led by Ariel Dlugasch from the consulting group Metamorphosis Teaching Learning Communities. The focus of this work will be to find deep and focused ways to individualize for each of the math learners in our classrooms as well as to increase language around math through rich tasks, problem solving activities and deep questioning.

Have something on your mind that you'd like to discuss with Caedmon's psychologist, Dr. Seracini? Drop in for office hours! This is a time when any Caedmon parent can come in to ask questions or seek advice about their children, child development, and parenting issues on an individual basis. Caedmon Basketball Practice Begins
Tuesday, November 1st | 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Mr. Kagan and Mr. Balon are excited to undertake our fifth season of Caedmon Team Basketball this winter, again competing in the Gotham Basketball Association. Any interested student in Fourth or Fifth grade, girl or boy, can play. Practice will take place in the Caedmon gym on the following days:
  • Tuesdays - 5th Grade Girls
  • Wednesdays - 4th Grade Girls
  • Thursdays - 4th Grade Boys
  • Fridays - 5th Grade Boys

Caedmon's Next Book Club Meeting: The Girl on the Train

All parents and caregivers are welcome to the next Book Club meeting on October 19th, where the book, The Girl on the Train will be discussed. Caedmon will provide the wine, cheese, and goodies, so just bring yourself and a few suggestions for future reads: fiction or non-fiction. Family Bowling Night for Third through Fifth Grade Families
Saturday, October 22nd | 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. | Frames Bowling Lounge
Join us on the lanes next Saturday for a fun family day out! The cost is $35 per person, which includes lanes, shoes, and food. If looking to attend, please RSVP to your class representatives as soon as possible. This event is for Third through Fifth grade families only.

Collecting Donations for Hurricane Matthew Relief
Caedmon is collecting donations for Save the Children to aid victims of Hurricane Matthew. A collection box will be placed outside of Mr. Stuart's office, where children, parents, and caregivers are welcome to contribute what they can to relief efforts.

How do young children learn about etiquette? Bring your child and see how our teachers use songs, stories and games to teach the Montessori principals of grace and courtesy. You'll gain a sense of our curriculum as well as the philosophy and approach of The Caedmon School.

Parenting Talk: How to Manage Difficult Behaviors With Collaborative Problem Solving

Join Director of Think:Kids Dr. Stuart Ablon at Churchill School for a talk on the effectiveness of the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) approach with children and adolescents with a range of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The Flu: A Guide For Parents
This guide is an example of information that is geared towards parents and guardians. It explains why seasonal influenza is serious, provides signs of influenza and tells parents and guardians how to protect their children from influenza by getting them vaccinated.
