For your body and soul
There is a woman I'd like to introduce you to. Her name is Big Mama. She is so spectacular that I will likely mention Big Mama in upcoming posts and classes, and you may even see her in the studio.

Big Mama is not actually a person, as much as she is a teaching. She represents the quintessential mother, who welcomes all and turns away none. She opens her arms to the wounded and the righteous, and by doing so, she is surrounded by a small crowd of animals, people, stars and elementals. She is the epitome of love. She trades blame and fear, for a warm embrace. Big Mama knows that everyone is doing their best with what they have right now, and she is ready to make room for anyone and anything. Especially those whom others push away. Big Mama owns her space. She makes no excuses or apologies for her blind eye. She CHOOSES her family, and the bigger the better. If you were to ask Big Mama about the presidential election, she would just smile, one arm around each candidate, hugging them against her bosom.

We each have a Big Mama inside us-the capacity to accept the uncontrollable with unconditional love, beginning with our own wounds, preferences and talents. It is truly the highest lesson that we as humans are offered. If you close your eyes, can you feel her?

Also introducing...
Ms. Lola will soon be frequenting The Shift as our new studio dog! Lola was rescued over the weekend and is happy to finally have a home.  She is a bundle of love, and would rather sit on you than chase a toy. Come in and meet her, but please keep your exchanges in the lobby. :)
