Blessing of the Animals
Just as St. Francis of Assisi wrote the Canticle of the Sun on his death bed when he was blind, we are invited to learn how to love all life forms as we awaken to the death of million of species of animals and plants during the current 6th extinction of life on earth that we humans are inflicting. It is time to close our eyes in prayer and thanksgiving and ask to see the truth of our oneness with all creatures and ask God/dess for guidance
to learn how to be more loving.

   Order of Worship
Interfaith,  Interspecies and Interconnected!  October 9,2016
Mission Statement: Encouraging awe and loving intimacy with all of creation and the cosmos, we explore the visual and performing arts, dreams, wisdom teachings of Christ-Sophia in the Bible and newly found gnostic gospels, prayer, social activism, and relationships as we work to care for our common home Mother Earth, in a new kind of local and global community. We are a home church with people around the world via the Internet, exploring a new religious story for our time.
Vision: Our vision is to spiritually awaken and raise our consciousness about the sacred nature of all life and our interconnectedness in order to come together as a human family and care for our common home and love God/dess with all our hearts, souls and minds and creation as ourselves.
Meditation " Saint Francis is said to have composed most of the  canticle   in late 1224 while recovering from an illness at  San Damiano , in a small cottage that had been built for him by  Saint Clare   and other women of her  Order of Poor Ladies . According to tradition, the first time it was sung in its entirety was by Francis and Brothers Angelo and Leo, two of his original companions, on Francis' deathbed, the final verse praising "Sister Death" having been added only a few minutes before. A legend which emphasizes the topic of "brightness" says he did not physically write the Canticle, because of his blindness from an eye disease; but he dictated it and he did it looking at Nature through the eye of mind. Father Eric Doyle wrote: "Though physically blind, he was able to see more clearly than ever with the inner eye of his mind. With unparalleled clarity he perceived the basic unity of all creation and his own place as a friar in the midst of God's creatures. His unqualified love of all creatures, great and small, had grown into unity in his own heart. He was so open to reality that it found a place to be at home in his heart and he was at home everywhere and anywhere. He was a center of communion with all creatures" Wikipedia

Musical Prayer
"St Francis of Assisi Prayer" Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness joy, And where there is sadness joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much see; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Joyful Musical Welcome "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee"
music  by  Ludwig Beethoven
1.Joyful, joyful we adore thee God of glory, God of love, Hearts unfold like flowers before thee
Opening to the sun above, Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, Drive the doubt and dark away, Giver of immortal gladness, Fill us with the light of day.
2. All thy works with joy surround thee. Earth and heaven reflect thy rays, Stars and angels sing around thee, Center of unbroken praise, Field and  forest, vale and mountain, Flowery meadow, flashing sea, Chanting bird and flowing fountain, Call us to rejoice in thee.
3.Thou art giving and forgiving, Ever blessing, ever blest, Wellspring of the joy of living, Ocean depth of happy rest! Thou our Father, and our Mother, All who live in love are Thine; Teach us how to love each other, Lift us to the joy divine.
4. Mortals, join the happy chorus, Which the morning stars began; Mother love is reigning o'er us,
Brother love binds all of us. Ever singing, march we onward, Victors in the midst of strife, Joyful music leads us Sunward In the triumph song of life.

Canticle of the Sun, Clare and Francis of Assisi 1224
(edited by Bonnie with inclusive words for the divine)
Most high, all powerful, all good Holy One!
All praise is Yours, all glory, all honor, and all blessing.
To You, alone, Most High, do they belong.
No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your name.
Be praised, my Mother-Father God, through all Your creatures, especially through my lord Brother Sun,
who brings the day; and You give light through him.
And he is beautiful and radiant in all his splendor!
Of You, Most High, he bears the likeness.
Be praised, my Mother-Father God, through Sister Moon and the stars;
in the heavens You have made them bright, precious and beautiful.
Be praised, my Holy One, through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather,
through which You give Your creatures sustenance.
Be praised, my Holy One, through Sister Water;
she is very useful, and humble, and precious, and pure.
Be praised, my Mother-Father God, through Brother Fire, through whom You brighten the night.
He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong.
Be praised, my Gracious God, through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us,
and produces various fruits with colored flowers and herbs.
Be praised, my Holy One, through those who forgive for love of You; through those who endure sickness and trial.
Happy those who endure in peace, for by You, Most High, they will be crowned.
Be praised, my Gracious God, through our sister Bodily Death, from whose embrace no living person can escape.
Woe to those who die in mortal sin!
Happy those she finds doing Your most holy will.
The second death can do no harm to them.
Praise and bless my Mother-Father God, and give thanks ,and serve God/dess with great humility.
