PRES Book Fair Begins This Weekend

Avast Me Hearties, it's time for the BOOKANEER Book Fair!
The Book Fair will run from  October 14-20th.  Click  here  for a schedule of Book Fair hours and events.

We need help from all parents of PRES to make this annual fundraiser a success.  Thanks so much to everyone who has signed up so far--almost every shift is covered!  However, the Charity Bake Sale still needs baked good donations and help covering some shifts, especially on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-2:30pm  and Monday and Wednesday nights. All the proceeds from this sale will be given to "Lucas Harashima Cancer Crush". C lick here  for the volunteer sign up sheet if you can contribute your time or baked goods to help one of our own in his fight against Cancer.

Contact Stacey Cleveland with general questions, Kristen Hurwitz for volunteer questions and Joanne Falk about the bake sales.

Thank you!

Pancake Breakfast is November 5!!!
Please plan to join us for the Annual  PRES 5th Grade Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast, on Saturday, November 5 from 8:00am-12:00pm! We will be serving egg  sandwiches, bagels, bacon, and of course, pancakes! Also, there will be arts and crafts, a  mini-carnival including a Gaga pit, bouncy house and Velcro wall, a bake sale,  and a raffle with over $7,500.00 in prizes!  This event is fun for all ages and helps our 5th graders raise money towards all of their moving up activities this year.

If you have a business and would like to place an ad on our Pancake Breakfast placemats, it is not too late.  The deadline for Ad Submission is this Monday, Oct. 17.  Click here for information on Ad Placement.

Thank you for your support.
Clip Box Tops and Earn Cash for PRES
Looking for an easy way to earn money for PRES right from home? Clip Box Tops! Box Tops for Education are on many household products, and each one collected earns 10 cents for PRES. Your child should have received a collection bag for their Box Tops via backpack mail. Please collect as many as you can and submit them by the Fall deadline
October 26. Contact Trish McGovern with any questions. Every Box Top counts!

Help a PRES Kindergarten Student
PRES Kindergartener Lucas Harashima was recently diagnosed with brain cancer (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma or DIPG). PRES will soon be launching a school-wide community service project to collect change for The Cure Starts Now Foundation, which provides funding for research for DIPG.  You can follow Lucas' quest to crush cancer on a Facebook page set up by his family, "Lucas Harashima Cancer Crush"
On that page, they also have information on a family fundraising campaign on  youcaring.com  to assist his family during this trying time.

We hope you'll visit both and help in any way you can. Please watch backpacks for more information about the PRES effort to raise awareness and funds for DIPG and related research.

In addition, PRES students who are planning to attend the Scott's Corners Halloween Walk this year are invited to dress as Minions in a show of solidarity and support for Lucas and the Harashima family.   Lucas is truly "One in a Minion".

BCSD Basketball Bash
Please save the date for the 2016 BCSD Basketball Bash.
Join students from all five Bedford Central elementary schools to watch the Harlem Wizards take on the All Star faculty and staff of BCSD on  December 4, 2016 at 2pm at Fox Lane High School. Tickets are available here .  Hope to see you there!
