Elementary NWEA MAP & Compass Learning MCS
Elementary has successfully completed MAP fall standardized assessments and Compass Learning is now ready to provide your student with his/her own personalized learning pathway based upon his/her MAP data and individualized learning needs. Please look for a letter from me in your child's "Friday Folder" today, October 7th, with personal login information and password for Compass Learning. If your child had an account last year, your child's login information will be the same. All students will be logging onto Compass Learning by the end of next week during their technology class to continue to become familiar with the program.
I hope you are able to log on with your child over the next few days to experience this fun engaging interactive program directly geared towards what he/she is ready to learn. MAP scores will be shared with parents during Fall Parent Teacher Conferences along with your child's Fall Progress Report during the week of November 14th-17th.
Thank you so much for your partnership, we look forward to a wonderful year!
Blessings,
Reggie Biancalani
Elementary Principal

Every month our Community Connections Department puts together a newsletter as a resource to utilize within our families. Our hope is that these resources provide meaningful opportunities for our families to connect around the same monthly theme. Given that our school's theme this year is "Made to Glorify," our focus for October is going to camp in the simple concept of "made." We will build on this concept as the months go by, but it feels quite important to explore the starting place, which is that we were MADE (fearfully and wonderfully) by God, MADE in His image, and MADE for great purpose.
Let's venture through October ready to seize those moments where we can have conversations about other things God has made, and how we were made. It is fundamental to our children growing up with their identity rooted in Christ to "get this" idea ... there was thought and intention that went in to the uniqueness of us all. And, no matter how marvelous certain aspects of creation are (Fall leaves, a glorious sunset, a vast ocean view, the smell of salt water...), God declared that we were the true crowning jewel!
Lastly, please save the date for an upcoming Parent Enrichment seminar:
"Made for Peace: Cultivating Peace Amidst a Frenzied World"
Thursday, November 3rd, 8:00-9:30 a.m.
Multipurpose Room
Presented by CIFT (Center for Individual & Family Therapy). It is sure to be rich with information, strategies, and parenting insights that will help us nurture our children and lower the level of stress in our homes and daily lives.
Wishing you a very blessed October,

PTF Teacher Blessing Fund
Our annual and optional opportunity to bless our teachers, aides, and specialists with an end of the year monetary gift continues during the fall. The goal of the MCS Parent Teacher Fellowship Blessing Fund is to give parents an opportunity to show our collective appreciation to MCS teachers, aides and specialists and bless them with a monetary "group gift" that is both generous and equally distributed. Additionally, it is a means to simplify gift giving for MCS families. The Teacher Blessing Fund will be distributed by the Room Moms in June of 2017 at the Character Awards.
