ClassE is where we grow entrepreneurs and nurture success. Read about what we have been learning.

We spent a lot of time learning the business basics of Excel, email and dropbox, so we can communicate efficiently in our group business.

Thank you to our board for all of the time and effort they put into making sure the class is financed and running smoothly. From left to right are: Ron Diepholz, Alex Hagen, Steve Garren, Patty Peterson, Joyce Madigan, Sarah Kramer, Gary Philippi and Vince Walk.

Location: Lifespan Center (unless noted below), 11021 E. Cty. Rd. 800 N. Charleston (Loxa Rd just northeast of SBLHS).  Class is open and everyone is welcome.
Business Location Analysis

Dr. Mike Rudibaugh stressed the old adage, "location, location, location" to the students of ClassE when visiting him at Lake Land College. Dr. Rudibaugh is an expert at geographic information systems (GIS) and the students were given market research data that helps them figure out what products and services might sell well in Coles County. They now have data that they can use in their business plans to strengthen their pitch.

Processes to Handle the Money

In ClassE, you definitely learn by doing. After some successful sales with the sipper cups, we made sure to reconcile the inventory with the sales to assure we haven't lost any product. We also spent time brainstorming on other ways to sell the sippers.
Finding the Big Idea for Individual Businesses

Although we don't grade on individual businesses until Spring semester, some students who want to capture holiday sales need to start their individual business sooner versus later. Thank you to Eastern Illinois University for the "Create Your Own Business Workbook" donation so we can begin to explore profitable ventures.

We are so thankful for the generosity of the Coles County businesses that sponsor ClassE. For a complete listing and more information about these businesses, please click below.  We also appreciate the that the Lifespan Center serves as our home base throughout the year. We hope you support them as they support us!
