OMCA Meetings and Important Announcements
The Oakland Mills Village office will be closed on Monday, October 10, 2016 for Columbia Day.

The Oakland Mills Board meets the 2nd and 4th Tues. of each month at The Other Barn at 7:00 p.m.

*Please note the upcoming Board of Directors meeting schedule through December, 2016:

October 25, 2016, 7 pm:
Regularly scheduled meeting date. 
November 9, 2016, 7 pm:
This is a new date in lieu of 11/8/16 which is Election Day.
November 29, 2016, 7 pm:
This is a new date in lieu of 11/22/16 which is just prior to Thanksgiving.     
December 13, 2016, 7 pm: Regularly scheduled meeting date.
The Dec. 27 meeting has been canceled, no new date will be scheduled.

The next board meeting will be on October 25, 2016.

Resident Architecture Committee (RAC) 
The next RAC meeting will be held on Thursday, October 20 at 7:30 at The Other Barn.  Sign in begins at 7:00 p.m.

Leaves, Shredding, Recycling and Other Information from Howard County Public Works
 
On Monday, Oct. 10 there WILL BE trash/recycling collections.
 
Howard County does not pick up loose leaves. 
Residents need to bag leaves and leave them curbside for recycling pick up (paper bags only) or shred and use as compost or mulch.
DO NOT LEAVE  the LEAVES loose curbside or rake into storm drains.  This will clog the drains and pollute our waterways.

The six candidates running for the Howard County Board of Education will attend the forum.  This Q & A style forum will give the public a great opportunity to find out about each candidate.

Howard County Community College's Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center will facilitate the forum.

CA's Outdoor Organized Walks

Explore Columbia's natural settings with CA's 2016 series of organized outdoor walks
Columbia Association's (CA) series of outdoor walks returns in 2016 with 11 days of exploring the lakes, streams, woodlands and wildlife of Columbia. 
 
"Exploring Columbia on Foot" is once again being led by award-winning environmental author Ned Tillman, who will guide discussions on the nature, history and future of these wonderful outdoor settings, including the plans for them and challenges they may face in the near future.

The walks will be held on nine Thursdays and two Saturdays from April through November. All walks will begin at 10 a.m. Registration is not required.

The remaining schedule of walks and meeting locations includes:
  • Thursday, Oct. 20, Wilde Lake - meet at Slayton House
  • Thursday, Nov. 3, Oakland Mills - meet at The Other Barn

Toiletry Drive ~ Now Through November
CA's Youth & Teen Center @ The Barn (Teen Outreach Committee) is holding a toiletry drive which runs now through November.

Items can be dropped off at The Barn or The Other Barn in Oakland Mills and at other Columbia Village Association offices.
Items needed include but are not limited to: feminine products, tissues, soap, wipes. diapers, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, paper towels, fabric softener, dish detergent and laundry detergent.
