Do you have concerns about the
Park Avenue Enhancement Project
? Erosion, washouts, and confusion about which side of Park is completed concern residents. Bring your questions and concerns to Ward III on October 13th. Gary Wittwer, project manager for the Park Avenue Project, will discuss the finished project.
In 2008, five neighborhoods (Feldmans, Jefferson Park, Mountain/First, Hedrick Acres, and North University) wrote a grant sponsored by the City of Tucson. It was specifically for "provision of facilities for pedestrians and bicyclists, and landscaping and other scenic beautification".

Yes, it is the third Saturday again, time to clean our adopted park. The weather if finally nicer. We supply equipment, but bring water and your personal gloves/tools. Neighbors spend about an hour cleaning up the adopted park at Edison and Campbell.
Many hands make light work. Good company makes for great networking.

There are two events on Oct 29:
Sabaku T-shirt sale
- This annual sale
features the work of Nancy Lenches and her wonderful T-shirt designs. Jefferson Park and Old FtLowell neighborhood "Live at Home" project benefits from the proceeds.
Jefferson Park Treasures Sale -
This sale, in concert with the Sabaku T-shirt sale, is the neighborhood's opportunity to fund the many projects which have been suggested. Neighborhood entrance signs, a traffic circle to abate the flooding at Cherry and Linden, little free libraries, and the bike/walk loop are just a few that have been suggested. It was
fundraisers like this, by neighbors, that funded
the $38,000 Historic Nomination fee and the
$4,000 for the street signs.

Calls to TPD vs Number of Red Tags in Jefferson Park
Is the new TPD push for policing Unruly gatherings working? 2015-2016 September comparisons show that while there were more unruly gatherings reported in 2016, there was a 14% increase in the red tag citations. The number of calls to TPD for unruly gatherings doubled in September 2016 over September 2015.

You can only report unruly gatherings after 10 pm
FACT: The ordinance does not designate a time. Unruly gatherings can , and often do, occur at any time of day.

Frida Kahlo exhibit to open at Tucson Botanical

The
Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life
exhibit examines Kahlo's work through the lens ofthe plants and nature in her paintings and her personal gardens. Tucson Botanical Gardens was selected as the only institution to receive the exhibition designed by the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG).
Tucson Botanical Gardens will present tours, lectures, and other events throughout the duration of Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life. The exhibit opens next Monday and runs through May 31, 2017. It's made possible by the National Endowment for the Humanities, with additional support from Pima Community College, Tucson Water and Cox Communications.

Tucson Meet Yourself begins Friday Oct 8
Get ready for lots of food, entertainment, and culture in Downtown Tucson this weekend at Tucson Meet Yourself.
The annual celebration recognizes traditional arts of Southern Arizona and Northern Mexico and their diverse ethnic and folk communities.
The three-day event begins Friday at 11 a.m. and runs through Sunday (hours). The festival features hundreds of artisans, home cooks, dancers, musicians, and special exhibits that celebrate diversity. You can easily reach downtown via the Sun Link streetcar
from points along the University of Arizona, 4th Avenue, and the Mercado District (west of Interstate 10).

It's that time of year again!
The Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc. are selling chances on the Jim Click raffle. This year a 2016 Ford Mustang! Twenty-five dollars apiece, or five tickets for $100.00. There were only 4,300 of these cars made. The drawing is December 2016.
100% of the ticket sales benefit the neighborhood projects.
