Hydroponics Stores - Is it Good or Bad News for African Violet Growers?
Have you noticed that the plant world has changed?  In the good old days, a grower searching for potting mix, artificial lights, or fertilizer was most likely to go to a garden center. It was great because the staff was well-trained and gave great advice. The garden centers have increasingly disappeared as “big box stores” and internet sources have taken over the same market – the price of the supplies is cheaper but personalized advice is harder to find.

Whether you grow lots of violets or only a few, hydroponics stores may be a good source for quality potting mix & fertilizer. Remember their advice may be best for their other customers who are growing a yet-to-be legalized crop.

Reading the results in another way, 70% of those responding grow some violets in natural light. 67% grow some violets in artificial light.
