Hurricane Harvey Fundraisers Summary
donuts with girls
God Squad fundraiser
Thank you for all of your support for Hurricane Harvey. The cash donations were given to Catholic Charities in Galveston, TX, who will put the money to good use. Those who made a donation were offered a donut if they wanted one. To the donors' credit, there was a lot of self discipline with donors politely declining a donut or offering it to someone who wanted one. What a wonderful giving community we have!

Operation Gratitude Fundraiser hurricane harvey donations
(letter from Mrs. Lorthioir, who coordinated the fundraiser)
On behalf of my entire family, thank you for supporting and participating in our effort to help Hurricane Harvey's victims. We are incredibly grateful for the kindness, generosity and the outpouring of support from Connelly School families and staff. All donations were delivered to Operation Gratitude last Wednesday, and they were very happy and thankful for all the items. They were boxed and driven via a volunteer big rig truck to Texas in flood damaged areas.

Fond Farewell
Margaret Meland

We are saddened to say goodbye to Margaret Meland, Director of Advancement. She has accepted a new position as Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at another school; this position will be something that allows her to continue to use her gifts and talents on behalf of the students. Her last day will be September 22. Please take the time to wish her well. She will always be part of our family, and her upbeat, positive presence on campus will be missed!

There will be a Tri-School College Case Study Night on Monday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m. The event is an engaging and effective way to discuss the college application process. College representatives will lead parents and students through a mock admission committee using three example cases. The exercise will point out the intricacies of the process and the importance of assembling a strong application. Guests will gain insight and understanding as to what is valued in the college application. The Case Study program concludes with a mini college fair. All students can sign up for themselves and their parents through Family Connection/Naviance. Please read the three case studies before the event. Click here for the link to the three case studies. service hours Summer Service Hours Due
Just a friendly reminder...your summer service hours are due to Mrs. Townsend no later than Friday, September 29. Any summer hours received after that date are no longer valid. Any exceptions need to be brought to her attention before the September 29 deadline. All other service hours during this school year are due NO LATER THAN APRIL 13 (The first Friday after Easter Break). The handbook says May 1st, but we discovered having that deadline is not enough time to order service awards for Awards Ceremony). Please see Mrs. Townsend for any questions or concerns.

Service Opportunity
service opportunities
Do you have a desire to do service in our Orange County area? The Sisters of St. Joseph in Orange have a service day coming up on SATURDAY, September 30. It is very similar to our All School Service Day (even has some of the same venues as us!) but it is on a Saturday. Check out the link below. You have to sign up by September 15 and will need to have a guardian with you but these appear to be great opportunities to get knee deep within the community to help out. Check it out. If you do volunteer, just bring a service hour form with you and have them sign it when your commitment is complete. Do it with a friend - could be fun! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Townsend.
