City Council Approves Budget, Lower Tax Rate
The North Richland Hills City Council voted on Monday to lower the city's property tax rate by 2-cents and approved the budget for the 2017-2018 fiscal year that begins on October 1. The 2-cent reduction equals about $820,000 in funding that will remain with NRH taxpayers. The city is able to lower the tax rate from $0.61 to $0.59 cents due to new construction and an increase in existing property values.
The average NRH home with a taxable value of $170,000 will have an annual city property tax bill of $1,003, or $83.58 per month. As a reminder, t
he city's property tax equals around 22% of your overall property tax bill. Over half of your property taxes, 55%, goes to the school district, with the rest going to county agencies.
The FY 17-18 budget funds the infrastructure and services NRH residents depend on every day, such as good roads, clean reliable water, a properly functioning sewer system, police, fire and emergency medical services, library programs, and park and recreation amenities. More information about the budget and tax rate can be found on the city's website.
