Business Meeting to affirm new senior pastor
Sunday, September 17, 5-6pm
We are so excited about the announcement of our future senior pastor couple, Josh and Dania Harder, of the Vereda Vineyard in Mexico City! Josh, Dania, and their three children will be joining us in July 2018.

We need YOU to vote to affirm Josh. The meeting will last one hour and will include voting, praying and praising the Lord for his faithfulness and goodness in leading us in this transition. Childcare is provided, but feel free to bring your children to this meeting.

Do you wonder if you are an official member? Have you attended Vineyard 101? Have you filled out the membership form? If you did NOT receive an email from us last week, then please contact Rita right away. You do not have to be a member to attend the meeting. You just have to be a member to vote.

This Saturday morning, our men will meet for breakfast and an inspirational talk by Mark Raggett - 8:30am in the Cafe. Afterwards there will be opportunity to serve with Mercy Response doing demo, so bring your work clothes.

This Sunday, Megan continues our series on Philippians.

Thank you to all that have given so generously to our Hurricane fund! We are now assessing the needs of those in our church, and this fund will enable us to help meet some of those needs. To give to our Hurricane Harvey fund, please go here. If you have needs that you want us to know about as a result of this storm, please go here.  If you have questions about our participation or how to get involved, email Megan.

Now that Vineyard Mercy Response has arrived in Houston, we will be coordinating with them to send teams to those that need help! Thank God for VMR! If you would like to be on a team, serving whenever you can, please sign up here.  We will continue to support the hungry in the Heights through HIM Food Pantry with donated food and volunteering!

We hope to see you Sunday!

Education and Ministry Highlights

Men's Breakfast - $5
This Saturday, September 16th, 8:30-10:30am
Join the men of the Houston Vineyard (and friends!) for another inspirational men's breakfast. This time, we will be hearing from our own Mark Raggett. Mark will share his experiences from being bullied as a child to playing rugby for Cambridge, and what those experiences have taught him about compassion and humility. Mark has dedicated himself to a life of service to others, following Jesus' commandment to love God and to love people, as is evident in his recent organizing efforts for Hurricane Harvey relief. There will be an opportunity after this event to participate with Mercy Response to demo homes. Bring some work clothes if you can help.

Vineyard Church of Houston Business Meeting
This Sunday, September 17, 2017  5-6pm
In accordance with our church bylaws, the Pastoral Council will present their recommendation for our future senior pastor, Josh Harder, and members of our church will be able to vote. If you are an official member of this church, please plan to attend! A new senior pastor will be elected to office by two-thirds majority vote of the members present. This is sure to be a sweet time of celebration for all that God has done for us through the years. We'll worship, pray, and give thanks! Feel free to bring you children to the meeting.

Men's Overnight Retreat
at Carolina Creek Camp - Huntsville, TX
Friday 7pm - Saturday 5pm October 13-14
  • Do you need a short retreat?
  • How long has it been since you were silent in the presence of God?
  • How well do you know that other men in our church?
Our hectic day-to-day life can be a barrage of work, family, and to-do lists. And now, Hurricane Harvey's aftermath has compounded the stress that can definitely distract us from spending time with God. This could be an important time to get away and reconnect with God and each other!

We want to provide that opportunity at an overnight retreat that will help us learn more about ourselves and each other. We hope to emerge renewed, refreshed, and ready to share spiritual truths. To accomplish these goals, Walter Linn, a well-known professional family counselor, will be joining us from San Bernardino, CA. Walter will teach us to build better, healthy relationships with other men. He'll show us that laughter, joy and camaraderie are ways that Christ can be experienced. Walter has been doing this for many years, so we are looking forward to learning from him!

Two Saturday meals included. We need to have
10 guys sign up to utilize the Ropes Course.
Price includes zip line, rock wall, and more outdoor fun!  $95 till Sept 30, $105 after. Register here.
After you register, there will be a link to pay.

Homes with Hope Gala cancelled
The venue for our annual gala event - Lakeside Country Club flooded. There is no rescheduling plan for the gala yet. We love Lakeside Country Club, but they will be unable to host any time soon. We will be in touch when we know more.

For any of you who have experienced flood damage to your home or cars, we pray for the resources, support and energy to make it through the recovery and rebuilding process. We bless your family and home.

Appreciate each one of you!

Facebook page for parents, teachers, and guardians of Vineyard Church of Houston children!
We have created a closed group for those who want to keep up on what is happening in our nursery and children's department on Sunday. It is called Vineyard Church of Houston Kids. If you'd like to be added to the group, email Jill Lively

THIS SUNDAY!
Thanks for the many children and adults who helped the kids make mercy bags for children in shelters due to Hurricane Harvey. It is a good thing for our kids to exercise their compassion muscles! Thanks to Amanda Belmares for her company's generous donation of toys, parents who brought items for the bags, and Penny and Rebekah Robinson who delivered them to the shelters!

This Sunday, we will go to the auditorium for baptisms, then return for a lesson from Romans 5:3-5.

YOUTH NEWS

Attention all youth! We have a ton of things coming your way this school year: concerts, laser tag, spring and summer conferences,  and more. The best way to get information about these events is through the church website, the Webvine, the bulletin, and the information boards in the lobby. If you would like to see all the youth events  at a glance, there is a large youth calendar on the east wall on the third floor in the youth lounge. We hope to have most of our events posted on this by September 5th. In addition, we will send out emails and text messages as reminders.

Youth are in service this Sunday

Tuesday night youth gathering is weekly at 6pm.
