FROM THE DESK OF MS. BRESLER... |
|
Dear Parents,
Thank you for the tremendous response to the hurricane relief collection. Matthew 25 Ministries was overwhelmed with the donations and could hardly believe it all came from one school. Your willingness to helps others in need speaks volumes to your children and truly shows the Christian spirit of community and selflessness.
OPTION C -
Please remember that Option C does not send emails at the end of each day. You need to sign in and check out your children's grades on your own. It may be helpful to set a day and time to check each week so you stay up-to-date on how your child(ren) are doing. You can also give your students the responsibility of pulling up the website for you. The middle school students should have received their own log in to check grades and homework so if you have a student in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade be sure to touch base with them about their login and password.
PICK-UP NEWS - Thank you to everyone who has worked to make the 15 to 20 minutes of pick-up time safer for our students. As you know students will come to your car when allowed by the teachers on duty. After the first round of filling the cars the students will start walking back to allow for cars to be dismissed. If you are still missing your child, be sure to let the teachers on duty know that you are still missing your child by opening the door to your car and standing next to your vehicle. This will alert the teachers that a student is still needed and hopefully get your child to you more quickly. As always remain with your vehicle.
ALLERGIES - Please be aware that there may be a child in your child(ren's) class(es) that may have some allergies. It is very important that all guidelines for food being brought or sent into the classroom be followed. If a treat or snack comes into the classroom that does not follow the guidelines sent by the teachers please know the treats or snacks
will be sent home. The need for this action was very apparent last week when a birthday treat from a bakery was sent in. It was labeled as possibly being made in the same facility as nut products. One bite was taken and student had a reaction. We must all work together to make sure all our students are safe. I understand that this may mean your child cannot have his/her favorite snack for a school birthday treat, however, there is a long list of approved items to choose from that will meet most students'. The approved items must come in their original wrapping, with labels visible. Thank you for understanding the necessity for safeguards of what could be a life and death situation.
ACCOUNTABILITY -
Last week I promised you 10 different ways to help build accountability and responsibility in your children. This was first published in September of 2015 and it is still relevant today. Please take and use what you feel is appropriate for your needs and situation. This is a great topic to discuss with other parents. You will find that most are going through the same issues and may have ideas you can use. If not, it is always great to have someone to commiserate with!
