Did You Know?

We wanted to share with you the good things that happen at Temple Sinai that you may not be aware of.

Did you know that Temple Sinai makes its facilities available for many groups that assist our community at large and support our mission of Tikkun Olam.

A few of the groups that use our facilities on a regular or as needed basis are:  Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), ALANON, Overeaters Anonymous (OA), Partners in Adventure (provides services to the developmentally disabled), the Tibetan Community of Vermont, Hunger Free Vermont, LUND, and others.
Weisbein Recipient's
Summer  Israel Experience

Sophie Dauerman, a member and recipient of the Weisbein Scholarship, spent her summer in Israel.  In a letter to me she shares her summer experiences.  With her permission I share her letter with you. In so doing I hope that other young people in our congregation will follow her lead.  I am very proud of her courage, sense of adventure and personal growth.

Wishing you all good things,

Rabbi James S. Glazier

For this Mitzvah Project, we plan  to create hygiene care bags for the Homeless and Women's Shelters in Chittenden County.

All congregants are asked to participate by bringing any new, unused personal care hygiene items (preferably travel-sized) to the Temple. Desired items for the bag include: shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shaving cream, soap, razors, chap stick, Kleenex, wash cloths,  new or gently used socks- mens, womens, children (no holes or stains), warm gloves and hats, small backpacks- new or gently used, gift cards to Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds, Bus passes. These items will be delivered to COTS, A NEW PLACE, and STEPS TO END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (New name of the Women's Shelter).

Items may be placed in the box located in the lounge area by the Administrative Offices.   For for more information or if you are interested in helping with this project, please contact Linda Snider at  802-777-2269 or [email protected].
Jewish Federation of North America

It's hard to imagine the amount of devastation Texas has experienced.  Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, struggles to provide food, water, clothing and shelter to the thousands who are without homes.  Seventy percent of the 45,000 members of Houston's Jewish community have been impacted by the storm.  Their homes, synagogues and Federation are all underwater.

Being so far from the crisis makes us feel helpless.

The Jewish Federations of North America opened an emergency relief fund to support communities and individuals in Houston, San Antonio, Galveston, Corpus Christi and other areas in Texas that have been hammered by the hurricane. Below is the link for making a contribution.

Though we may be far from the crisis we can still pray that the crisis ends soon and extend a helping hand to those who need our help.

In Peace,

Rabbi James S. Glazier

Mission Statement
We are a diverse, egalitarian, and inclusive community of Jews and interfaith families.  We joyfully embrace Judaism as a way of life through prayer, music, social action, celebrating Jewish holidays, lifelong learning, and life cycle events.  Through these activities, we seek to promote spiritual growth, moral values, and the social welfare of our community.

Vision Statement
Temple Sinai strives to be a joyful, energetic, accepting, innovative, caring, and accessible faith community.  We choose to practice and teach Jewish traditions in our community, so that Jews and Judaism will continue to flourish, both in Vermont and in an ever-changing world.  We believe that support for a safe and prosperous State of Israel is an important part of our Jewish identity.
