Crusader Sports.....

Sports update: It is with great pleasure that I write you as the new AD of Trinity Catholic High School. The year started off with some rough spots but all the teams are still focused. The one thing we stressed at the beginning of the year was not giving up, staying in shape, and to remain competitive no matter what the outcome.

There are some negatives BUT the positives, I believe, outweigh them. The football team, while 1-3 has been in all the games except one, the game against Greenwich. They play Ridgefield this Saturday so please come out and support them.

Both soccer teams practice everyday with enthusiasm looking for their first wins, learning more about the game every day, striving to get better.

Volleyball has won two games and played very well in numerous games. If a few bounces went our way they could easily have won 6 or 7.

Cross Country has over 30 students involved and have been running very well in the JV meets. Just last week we had a freshman finish 4
th overall and had 5 others finish in the top 20...Quite an accomplishment.

AND....The cheerleaders keep cheering everyone on. Thank You Ladies!!!

At Trinity we'll never give up. We'll keep making the good...better. And we will change what is not working....Stay tuned.

Guidance Updates...

MEC (Math & English Consultants) Finally, MEC Test Prep will be running several different SAT Prep Classes in our building from November19 to January 18, 2017 . Sessions run, both from 3-5:30 and from 6-8:30PM. Mr. Pavia has worked with Mike Marlowe from MEC at three different high school since the late 1990s, including TCHS where he has been doing our HSPT entrance test prep and he can assure you that he has always done an outstanding job, at a reasonable rate. Mike has offered TCHS families a generous discount and we are happy he has offered us this opportunity. If you are interested, There are pamphlets in the Main Office and in the Guidance Office or you may contact him directly at 845-596-0478 .

Financial Aid Workshop: On Tuesday evening, October 18, Guidance will host a Financial Aid Workshop at 7 pm. Mr. Emmett Cooper, Director of Financial Aid at Bank Street College will present on the FAFSA, CSS Profile and give you information on the financial aid process. Open to all parents.

We know that you're in the process of putting together college applications but we also want to make you aware that the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now available as of October 1, 2016.  This is a much earlier rollout of the FAFSA than the Jan. 1 date that had been used last year.  Students seeking financial aid should fill out the FAFSA and submit it to each college by the deadline set by each college.  The following websites will be helpful:
www.FASFA.ed.gov - FAFSA form
www.pin.ed.gov - Website where both students and parents acquire a pin number for the FASFA Form.
www.finaid.org - A free, comprehensive, independent and objective guide to student financial aid.
www.studentaid.ed.gov - Website that explains Federal Student Aid Program and how to apply.
While all colleges will require the FAFSA, some colleges also require the CSS Profile that asks for more detailed information.  Please check each college to which you are applying to see whether or not they require the CSS profile.  The CSS Profile is found at www.student.collegeboard.org/css-financial-aid-profile
