Fall Flavors and Farmers' Market Gourmet

There may be a nip in the air this weekend, but please don't let that keep you away from the wonderfulness that awaits you. Every week our farmers, food artisans and crafters share with me news of their harvest, their latest culinary creations or their handcrafted wares. Some weeks are more intriguing than others. This week is pretty awesome. From pig butter at Purely, Cheese Pumpkins at Blooming Glen, Krelish at Pickle Licious, or 5 month reserve Blue Bell at Valley Milkhouse, the market is ablaze with interesting and delectable finds for your fall tailgating, and get togethers. And speaking of tailgating, don't forget to visit Eight Oaks and Peace Valley Winery for your locally crafted spirits.

Tis the season to concoct hearty soups, rich stews and scrumptious roasts. Apple Ridge Farm is debuting a new Honey Whole Wheat Bread that's the perfect accompaniment. And remember, the root veggies... beets, carrots, potatoes and parsnips are EXTRA sweet this time of year. And our vendors carry an amazing selection of artisanal sausage for your Oktoberfest parties! So join us this weekend and experience the essence of Autumn with gorgeous vegetables, a bounty of apples and plenty of fresh pressed cider!

We'll have live music with Uncle Rocco (10am-Noon) and our featured potter, Mud & Maker returns for your holiday shopping needs. Come join us and get your weekly fix of fresh & local!

Celebrating Art

If you have not seen the latest copy of Indulge magazine, then you have not seen the story featuring Art from Easton Salsa Company. While Easton Hospital has much to celebrate, like our recent award from the Morning Call Readers' Poll for Best Emergency Department and Nursing Services. Those recognitions are brought to life in stories like Art's. He came to the ER and then was treated in the hospital. More importantly, he made a transformative decision about his health and future. The anniversary of that decision is fast approaching. Thanks for trusting us with your care, Art, sharing your story with others and making great salsa. Read the story here.

WHAT'S FRESH THIS WEEK...

Peace Tree Farm
Superfood!

Peace Tree Farm grows USDA Certified Organic Microgreens and Shoots. They are excellent in a wrap, on a pizza, in a green drink, on a salad, and as a snack! Put a bowl of these out instead of that bowl of chips. Kid tested and parent approved! This week's bounty: mustard, kale, spicy mix, amaranth, sunflower shoots, as well as pea shoots and pea tendrils. Come by the booth for a tasty sample! And as always there will be a variety of organic herbs, houseplants, and of course SUCCULENTS!

Valley Milkhouse
Bring on the Fall Funk!

This weekend, come by for a taste of Stefanie's funkiest batches of cheese. Valley Milkhouse will be featuring a special 5 month reserve batch of Blue Bell with chocolate, nutty flavor notes and a creamy texture. Petite Tomme will also be available: it's the Bloomy rind Thistle you know and love, aged for an extra 6 weeks to give it mushroomy, caramel flavors that will stimulate your palate. Come by for a taste!

Purely Farm
Turkey, Bone Broth, and Spuma di Gota

Purely Farm will continue to take orders for Thanksgiving Turkeys this weekend as well as feature a new batch of bone broth and Spuma di Gota!

Spuma di Gota is a mouthwatering mixture of cured pork jowls, local grass-fed ricotta cheese and secret spices all blended together into a happy, love spread! Most things in life are better with a dollop of this fascinating "pig butter" whether it be your favorite cracker, wedge of fruit or veggie stick. Try adding a spoonful to any sauce or even toast in olive oil and crack a few eggs on top. Farmer Marc likes to cut out the middle man and just spread on his tongue!

You know the old saying about Turkey Bone Broth, "a cupful a day keep all the nasties away". Whether used as protective armor against the winter plague, a base for your favorite soup or as a substitute for water to make the killerest quinoa ever, this stuff rocks.

Hey, don't forget to reserve the most tasty, affordable and local pasture-raised Thanksgiving Turkey the market has to offer while you check out the goods at Purely Farm this Saturday.

Tomblers Bakery

Specials for the week: Philly Cheese Steak Pastie - a great blend of chip steak, potatoes, sweet red and yellow peppers, onion, and cooper cheese, all eveloped in Karen's incomparable flaky crust.

Oh, and Tomblers' now famous Shortbread "Jammers" will also be available, along with our other yummy cookies! Please Note: Tomblers will be celebrating the life of Jackie Goodear on Oct. 29th (Skip's Mom) and will not be at the market.
