For the  parents and families of St. Therese Chinese Catholic School

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe we are already closing in on a month of school! We have celebrated the first days of school, our first mass, and our first spirit days. Our first Family Mass on September 17th is right around the corner, followed by the fantastic Back-to-School-Bash! I really hope to see many families for this celebration!

Shortly after, we will host our annual Parent Night on September 25th with Keynote Speaker and renowned author, Kristin Ziemke. She is working alongside our teachers this year on a year-long effort to prioritize creativity and innovation in the classroom. Ms. Ziemke will be addressing parents on how to foster their child's creativity at home. Parent Night will start at 6pm for light dinner and snacks, followed by the meeting at 6:15pm. We will have some really FUN surprises for those able to attend. In addition, parents will have the opportunity to meet their child's teachers, see the many upgrades in the school, including a truly state-of-the-art Innovations Room on our third floor, and receive some charming STCCS keepsakes. Also, if you are interested in a website tutorial or have some questions on the website, staff will be available between 5:30-6:15 that evening as well.

Our opening month of school was also met with the national news of two hurricanes that hit the Houston area and much of the state of Florida with remarkable and devastating strength. St. Therese will join the efforts of the Archdiocese of Chicago and Catholic Charities to respond to the needs of Chicago's families along with families displaced by the hurricanes. This challenge to Go Make a Difference (our theme this year) begins at St. Therese with the launch of the Soup-er Stadium Challenge on September 12th with each student bringing in at least one non-perishable food item. Please thoughtfully consider supporting this worthwhile campaign.

Blessings,
Ms. Cavallone
Principal

Introducing the Innovations Room!

This summer, we kicked up some dust and created an incredible maker space in the old tech room. The new Innovations Room includes a Mac lab, a 3D printer, flexible seating, and multiple interactive smart boards. The Innovations Room is a space for exploration, collaboration, and learning. We're thrilled to offer our students even more opportunities to grow as future leaders!

Let's Help Eliminate Hunger!
Support the Soup-er Stadium C hallenge

At St. Therese, we are always giving back! This fall, we're joining with 200 other schools in the Chicago Archdiocese in support of the Soup-er Stadium Challenge to fill each seat in Soldier Field with food - twice! We ask that every St. Therese student bring in at least one non-perishable item by the end of September in an effort to provide more than 100,000 meals to Chicagoans in need and help eliminate hunger. A list of suggested items can be found here

Be sure to check out this awesome video, featuring some of St. Therese's own, for more information about how you can help eliminate hunger!

Contact Mr. Howard at [email protected] with any questions or concerns. Mr. Howard, Ms. Blackburn and some parents from our parish Youth Ministry Program will be chaperoning.
