Dragon Tales
Weekly Newsletter
October 21, 2016
Dear St. George Families,
When I was teaching, right around this time of year, I would read my principals' newsletters and could always count on a comment referring to how fast the year is going. Even though I feel the same way this year, it is important for all of us to think about those past experiences in the wake of this speedy journey to reflect on our accomplishments and failures. I always reminded the students and my own children to never look back and say, I wish I would have done this, or I shouldn't have done that. No one ever wants to have regrets. I also reminded them that we all make mistakes, but learning from those mistakes is what's important. With this said, looking back at the last few months, there have been many positive experiences so far this year. We continue to learn and grow together - even if it is through failing. After all, at the end of the day, it is about taking the experiences we encounter and reflect on whether to use them, fix them, or toss them out. I am no stranger to all of the above and I reflect daily as I thank God for His continued guidance while asking Jesus to make me a better disciple.
In the words of Ida Scott Taylor,
One day at a time this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone: and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.
I have no regrets - only visions. Visions of making a positive difference in the lives of those who God puts in my life . God gave us hands to serve, feet to lead, and a voice to spread the Good News. Working together, we are all one body.
God Bless,
Jack Nelson
