Next month, we'll offer an archive of Hirst Decision resources on the SAR website for your future reference as you and your clients work through the impacts of this case.

Washington REALTORS
® offers an excellent bulletin on the Hirst Decision you can share with your clients (pictured above),
online here.
A standing-room-only crowd overflowed into the lobby outside the Spokane County Commissioners Hearing Room on Wednesday night (photo above). The issue was water, and the subject was the soon-to-be infamous Hirst Decision.
In a 6-3 opinion issued Oct. 6, the Washington state Supreme Court effectively blocked development throughout the state.

FHA Eases Condo Financing Rules
|
FHA, this week, lowered the owner-occupancy requirement on condominiums from 50 percent to 35 percent.
The move allows more condo buyers to qualify for FHA-insured loans. It applies only to projects that meet certain capital reserve requirements.

Legal Hotline Mailbag: Blank Spaces
|
Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline lawyer Annie Fitzsimmons is back to alert Brokers to a practice that can get them into a lot of trouble.
Most Brokers are familiar with blank spaces, and default language on a variety of forms.
However, some Brokers are speeding through forms that other Brokers have prepared without paying attention to blank spaces.
Annie discusses some of the potential problems that can arise from this in a five-minute video, online here:

No Working Smoke Detector

A 3-year-old boy who died in a fire late Friday night in Hillyard was found huddled with his dog, who stayed by his side, and a teddy bear.
"They died together," said Spokane Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer.
Investigators discovered the house did have a smoke detector, but it did not have a battery.
The Spokane Fire Department will provide smoke detectors and batteries to households in our area that cannot afford them. Contact your nearest fire station to access this offer.
The Spokane Fire Department Foundation accepts donations to support this and other fire education and prevention programs.
