Posters and Attached Meetings
Just 2 days left to submit your proposal for a Poster Presentation or Attached Meeting. The September 15 deadline will not be extended, so make sure to get your proposals in!
The poster session will take place on Tuesday, November 28, and posters will remain on display throughout the conference. Combined with our Welcome Reception, the poster session will be a fun event for showcasing your work and networking with colleagues. A poster contest is planned for undergraduate and graduate student posters.
Attached Meetings are a great opportunity, especially if you already have several attendees from your agency or organization attending the conference. Meetings can be scheduled in the afternoons, Tuesday-Friday. We'll provide the meeting space, and you'll organize the meeting and invite your participants.

Conference Presenter Information
Notifications for all oral presentation and fire circle proposals were emailed in August. If you submitted a proposal and did not hear back, let us know at
[email protected].
Please make sure to register by September 21st so we can include your presentation information in the program. We will send notifications for poster proposals and attached meetings as soon as possible, so you can also get registered.
A draft schedule of all session times will be posted by the end of September.

Field Trips
Conference participants can choose from several field trips, which will be held on Saturday December 2. All field trips are $60. These trips offer a chance to see first-hand how the concepts discussed during the conference are being applied in Florida.

Conference Location News
Hurricane Irma
We have been in touch with the staff at the
Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace, and the hotel fared well through Hurricane Irma and is open for business. Our thoughts and best wishes are with all those affected by the storm.
Room Reservations
Room nights at the Hilton will be offered at government per diem rates (starting at $129 per night, plus 12.5% tax).

Keep in mind that these ratesare also available forattendees 3 days before or after the conference, if you are planning to enjoy Orlando and the attractions area. In addition, discount tickets to the parks are available to conference attendees.

Award Nominations Due October 1
Help recognize your outstanding colleagues by submitting a nomination for a
Lifetime Achievement Award or
SAFE Student Excellence Award! Nominations will be accepted through October 1, and awards will be presented at the awards luncheon during the conference on Thursday, November 30.

Moderators and Volunteers
Moderators
If you can serve as a moderator for a session at the Fire Congress, please contact Tom DeMeo at [email protected] to let him know. Moderator duties include introducing the speakers and keeping everyone on time.
Students
Students can get reduced fees when they volunteer for work shifts at the conference. Simply choose the "student volunteer" option during registration, and we'll get in touch with you.
We can always use more help, from stuffing registration bags on Monday and helping at the registration desk to making sure the presentations are preloaded on laptops in each breakout room. Please contact Annie Oxarart at [email protected] if you can assist during the conference.
