The Passport Club is entering its 19th year at Puesta del Sol. Join us
for our annual work party, 9/12, 9:30am - 12:00pm!

Where: Renee Isbell's home
Why: To label, collate, staple, and organize the Passport resources for our 1st graders and all new students and teachers. We'll socialize
and nosh as we prepare for another new year of Passport Club!
This year, Committee Co-Chair in-training Renee Isbell is hosting the work party at her house. Come when you can and stay as long as you want. We'll have coffee and tea and some snacks to share.

Room Parent Orientation Tuesday, 9/19

Looking for a way to participate in your child's classroom that doesn't require Spanish language skills? Look no further, Room Parent is the volunteer spot for you! Most of the teachers will ask for Room Parent volunteers between now and Curriculum Night. For those of you interested in becoming a Room Parent for your child's classroom, there will be an orientation meeting on Tuesday, 9/19 at 9:30am in the PTA office in the Gym building. Spanish Outside of School (SOS)
|
|
Wednesdays beginning in December at Puesta del Sol.
After very successful pilot sessions last year, the PTA is working to add SOS to our after-school educational enhancement programs for students in 3rd-5th grades. For the 2017-18 school year, there are three 6-week sessions planned to meet on Wednesdays from 1:20pm to 3:00pm. Participation will be fully supported by the PTA (registration will be FREE!)

Registration will open via the PTA website on Monday, 9/18. There are 22 spaces available with 11 spaces reserved for girls and 11 for boys. Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dads: Get Involved with Watch D.O.G.S
|
|
Watch D.O.G.S. is a father involvement program of the National Center for Fathering.
Statistics show that kids develop more fully socially, physically, academically and emotionally when they have a positive male role model actively engaged in their life. Since school is a significant chunk of your kid's life, check out the
Watch D.O.G.S.

Short-Term Volunteer Opportunity: Governance & Budget Committee

If you have experience with other boards, have been a committee chairperson, or would like to learn more about the inner-workings of our Puesta del Sol PTA, consider joining this short-term committee to review and update our Standing Rules and operating budget! No experience necessary, only an interest in impacting the overall operations of our member-run organization. All input and recommendations will be voted on at the first General Membership meeting, so your commitment will be fulfilled by the end of September!
