We are very grateful Hurricane Irma was not as devastating to our community as originally predicted and we are hopeful everyone is safe after the storm!
We hope
you are looking forward to an exciting GuitarSarasota 2017-2018 concert season.
We have some important information to share with you:
International Concert Series:
- Xavier Jara, most recent winner of the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America competition, will open the season. Grammy award winner Jason Vieaux will be returning to the GuitarSarasota concert stage to perform in our 2nd concert of the season. Our 3rd concert will feature the very talented Kupinski Guitar Duo. Our final concert for the 2018 International Concert Series will feature celebrated classical guitarist Meng Su.
- To existing season tickets holders: You will receive an email on September 20, 2017 through our ticketing vendor (Vendini) about renewing your season tickets at the discounted price of $120 - a $20 saving off our individual ticket prices. The ONLY way to renew your season ticket package for the 4 concerts and reserve your existing seats is to click the Renew Now button that will be included in the email you will receive from Vendini. You will have until October 16th to renew your season ticket package.
- For those wishing to become new season ticket holders: Our season ticket package will go on sale to the public starting October 22, 2017 at guitarsarasota.org/tickets and will be available for purchase right up until the date of our first concert, which is January 13, 2018. Reserve the same seats for all 4 concerts for the package price of $120 - a $20 savings off individual ticket prices. For the best seats-order early!
- Looking for tickets to individual concerts? Individual concert tickets will go on sale starting December 13, 2017 at guitarsarasota.org/tickets
Mini-Concert & Lecture Series:
- Due to the success and growing attendance at our free Mini-Concert & Lecture Series, we are moving to a larger venue, the St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 2256 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota 34239. Many of you will be very familiar with this venue because prior to 2015 we used it to stage our International Concert Series events.
- We hope you will join us for our opening Mini-Concert & Recital Series event on November 13, 2017 featuring classical guitarist Ben Lougheed.
Other News:
- Last but not least, we are very pleased to announce that GuitarSarasota has launched a new community outreach program providing free classical guitar musical performances to Senior citizens living in publicly funded assisted-living facilities in Sarasota. Through this program, Senior citizens who are unable to attend live musical concert events due to health, physical or other limitations are given the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the classical guitar and discover the thrill and value of live performances.

Classical Guitarist Benjamin Lougheed earned his Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He completed his Masters of Music in Guitar Performance at Florida State and is currently completing his Doctorate of Music in Guitar Performance from FSU. His program will feature an eclectic array of works of the 20th century guitar repertoire ranging from late romanic pieces to arrangements of jazz standards.
