Free Workshop!
Kristi Mraz
presented
by the
All Write Consortium
From Ruth Ayres, new co-director:
September 28th is just around the corner and Kristi Mraz will be with the All Write Consortium (4310 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne) at 8:15 am.
This workshop is free
and will focus on purposeful play and mindset for learning.
One of Kristi's core beliefs is to never share "one more thing" teachers should do in their days. Part of her day will be discussing the importance of purposeful play for young students. In her book with Alison Porcelli and Cheryl Tyler, they write, "We believe there is play in work and work in play. It helps to have practical ways to carry that mindset into all aspects of curriculum."
Click here for Kristi's thoughts about purposeful play in this 3 minute video to get a taste for some of the conversation on September 28th.
We'd hate for your primary teachers, instructional coaches, or paraprofessionals, as well as administrators, to miss this powerful and refreshing day!

On My Way Pre-K
in DeKalb County
In June of 2017, DeKalb County was chosen by the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) via its Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning (OECOSL) as one of 15 new counties to participate in On My Way Pre-K, making prekindergarten available in 2018 to
4-year-olds from low-income families.
United Way of DeKalb County is honored to take the role as 'lead organization' for the community in this effort. However, we are not working alone. A team of dedicated volunteers from various organizations in the community are collaborating to launch this program and provide awareness to the community.
Early Childhood Providers are now eligible to apply to become an On My Way Pre-K site. For more information about qualifications and how to apply visit:
https://www.in.gov/fssa/4931.htm.
Families with 4-year-olds will be able to apply for the 2018-2019 school year beginning in January 2018. If you have any questions please contact United Way of DeKalb County Executive Director, Amanda Davis at
