Dear Students, Parents, Teachers & Friends of Education,

School Patron Award for Auburn Elementary

Roger and Mollie Drake were recently chosen as 2016 Educational Patron Winners by the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals. The award was presented at the Fall Principals' Conference Luncheon on October 13 at the Savannah Riverfront Marriott.

Auburn Principal Shawn Williams had this to say, "Roger and Mollie Drake are tremendous supporters of education and of Auburn Elementary. For several years, the Drakes have donated funds in order for every student at AES to be able to go on field trips. Mrs. Drake is a retired educator and believes strongly that all children should be exposed to as many experiences as possible during their elementary years. The Drakes realize the field trips taken during school may be the only time they will ever see a play, visit a museum or the state capital. They continue to be committed to providing the funds necessary for the school to ensure these trips happen. This year, their gift was matched by Delta Airlines."

Sims Academy Awarded Grant from ESE

The Audio-Video, Technology and Film program at Sims Academy of Innovation and Technology recently received a grant from Education Sports Entertainment (ESE) Network. The grant was in the form of new video streaming equipment including two new cameras, a new streaming computer and streaming software. Students have already put it to work streaming local football games and the recent Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) Georgia Scholarship Signing day. Program instructor, Mr. Peter Burke, and his students have wasted no time putting this new equipment to work.
