JANUARY 2016
EMPRESARIO
A MOMENT WITH THE PRESIDENT
From the desk of John Hernandez, President of FWHCC
Any transition can be intimidating as it takes one out of their comfort zone. Transitioning does not mean forgetting one's roots or history, but it is about adapting to the environment that surrounds us and encourages us to seek progress and improvement. As the New Year begins, I reflect on a society that has changed and I realize that it is time for us to change with it. I also reflect on the words of Vicente Fox, former President of Mexico (2000-2006), "instead of building walls, we should be building bridges". Most recently, I have had the pleasure to partner and support Vincente Fox in his efforts here in Fort Worth with the introduction of Centro Fox at TCU. Efforts by individuals such as Vicente Fox demonstrate the power of change through leadership and determination. Change that invokes others to make a difference through their own work and push a society beyond its own abilities to say we can do more, we can be more. As the Chamber goes through its own transitions and changes, our hope is to be a symbol of progress, inclusion and community for the overall well-being and economic development of Fort Worth.

COMMUNITY Community
The Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is excited to collaborate with the former President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, and Centro Fox. Dr. Fox was in Fort Worth mid-December and attended a breakfast hosted by the Chamber. Fox has become integral to the Fort Worth community with his partnership between Centro Fox and Texas Christian University. Centro Fox is contributing to the training of leaders based on social values through a platform that promotes equity, promotes ideas and the actions of our people nationally and internationally. The City of Fort Worth Mayor, Betsy Price, presented Mr. Fox with a key to the city and TCU Chancellor, Victor J. Boschini, presented Fox with an honorary Doctorate degree. Congratulations, Dr. Vicente Fox. Learn more about Centro Fox here.
