Get Ready f or the Mash!

Monster Mash presented by Metairie Bank Northshore is celebrating 29 years on Saturday, October 21 at Bogue Falaya Park.

Proceeds from Monster Mash, the STPH Parenting Center's only fundraising event, help to fund vital programs and services for families in our Northshore communities, many of which are offered at little or no cost.

Monster Mash is a fantastic way for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to St. Tammany Parish Hospital and our community. With nearly 2,000 families in attendance, Monster Mash is an opportunity like no other.

Learn more about how to become a corporate sponsor here. In-kind donor opportunities of candy, trinket toys and silent auction items are also available.

More than 450 volunteers are needed to make the event a success. Monster Mash is a great way for students to earn their service hours!  Click here to volunteer.

Ruby's Kids Fundraiser
Ruby's Kids, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, serves the  commun ity by raising  funds to purchase gifts for children who are in need during the holidays. On August 26, the Northshore Ruby's Kids chapter held their second annual fundraising event at the Southern Hotel in downtown Covington. "An Evening of Dancing" hosted music by the Gris Gris Band featuring special guest Luther Kent.

Thanks to the sponsors and attendees of last year's event, 29 families and more than 65 children who utilize the services of the STPH Community Wellness Center and Parenting Center were treated to presents and other surprises during the holiday season. Ruby's Kids hopes to support even more this year!

The STPH Women's Pavilion is once again a beneficiary of the annual Bras for a Cause event. This unique fundraiser, presented by the St. Tammany Women's Council of Realtors, takes place on Thursday, October 12 from 6-9 p.m. at the Northshore Harbor Center in Slidell.

In addition to great food and live music, this hilarious and fun fashion show features local men modeling decorated bras that are auctioned off.

In addition to the event, the foundation is selling tickets to win two seats to the Saints vs. Seahawks game on December 19, a one-night hotel stay in New Orleans and $1,000 CASH! Tickets are $10 each or six for $50 and can be purchased in the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Guild Gift Shop, Women's Pavilion and foundation office. The drawing will be held at the Bras for a Cause event.

A Surprise Gift

When St. Tammany Hospital Hospice director, Paula Toups, opened a letter stating hospice had been named a beneficiary in a life insurance policy for a man she did not know, she was surprised to say the least. The gentleman left policies totaling more than $75,000 to hospice to help further their mission; providing palliative and supportive care to terminally ill patients and their families in the home through an interdisciplinary team that addresses phsyical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.

Staff at St. Tammany Hospital Hospice and  St. Tammany Hospital Foundation soon learned that neither the donor nor his late wife had been patients of hospice, but both had received care at  St. Tammany Parish Hospital through the years. While we may never know the reasons he chose to support the hospice program with his ultimate gift, our staff will always be grateful for his thoughtful planning and generous contributions.

"There is a saying," shares Nicole Suh re, foundation executive director, "I 'd rather hug you while you're here than shake your family's hand when you're gone." The foundation encourages anyone who would like to remember the hospital in their estate planning to tell us now, so we can thank you face to face.

Beneficiary designation is just one of the many types of planned gifts. These types of gifts allow you to support the mission of the hospital and its programs even after your lifetime. All planned gift donors are recognized as members of the Legacy of Caring Society.
