volunteerVolunteer Needs

Weekday morning volunteers

AFAC relies on volunteers to run our food distribution program on weekday mornings. We need volunteers from 7:30-9am (approximately) to restock our shelves and from 9:15am-12:30pm to help clients or bag food donations. Ideally we'd like volunteers to commit to being here once a week, knowing that we have a generous leave policy. If you'd like to try a shift first, please email [email protected] or look for "Early AM Restocking" or "Distribution - Morning Helper" slots on our online calendar.

Gleaning - Saturday, September 30

Weather permitting, we will go gleaning in Winchester, VA (about 90 minutes from Arlington) for apples from 9-11 am. This is a great opportunity for families (we recommend minimum age of 5) to get out to the country and enjoy the fresh air and exercise. If you are interested, please go to the volunteer calendar. If you are a group and wish to take more than 10 spots, please email the volunteer department at [email protected]. We are also looking for someone with a LARGE vehicle that can bring back the harvest.
Lost and Found

As our renovations get under way, we have decided to part with our overflowing Lost & Found. It's mostly eyeglasses, keys, water bottles and jackets/hoodies/sweatshirts. If you think you've left an item here, please email us at [email protected] with a brief description. All items here after 9/29 will be donated to another organization.
