The Volunteer Voice
Vol. 5 Issue 11            Be The Change. Volunteer        November 2016
Greetings! do you feel that chill in the air? That crisp air of fall is the first messenger of winter, so it's time to get ready for the cold. And the very best way to warm up the winter is by joining the Jersey Cares Coat Drive. We need your help to warm 30,000 of our neighbors who need a coat, and you'll feel pretty warm-hearted yourself when you make it happen. You can also serve meals on Thanksgiving Day with  Hunger Helpers in Newark or  Pack and Deliver in Jersey Cityor volunteer for one of hundreds of other projects throughout the holidays.
The Jersey Cares Coat Drive
Help Jersey Cares collect and distribute more than 30,000 “gently used” winter coats to men, women and children who need them throughout New Jersey.
ServiceWorks - Preparing Students for Careers and Life
Year three of our ServiceWorks program has kicked off and we are looking for volunteer Success Coaches and Skills Trainers to prepare students to succeed in life.
November's Volunteer Star
Richard Charles, Jr. started volunteering with us back in February 2016 and has quickly become an important member of the Jersey Cares team.
Corporate Corner: Alexion
Last month, Jersey Cares partnered with Alexion Pharmaceuticals' corporate headquarters to coordinate their first-ever Global Day of Service, when 400+ volunteers changed the face of Hill Regional Career High School.
Take the Next Step - Be a Leader
Take volunteering to the next level and become a Project Coordinator. Project Coordinators lead Jersey Cares’ recurring volunteer opportunities and serve as a liaison between volunteers, our nonprofit partners and Jersey Cares. They inspire volunteers to “Be the Change” and provide direction during projects. It’s a fun learning opportunity in which you get to network with nonprofits and other community leaders while being supported by a cohort of other volunteer leaders. Project Coordinators commit to lead two or more projects per month for six months at a time. Please Visit our website or contact Amanda Naftaly to learn more.
