2017 HOMECOMING
The 2017 SMCC Homecoming festivities kick off this Saturday, September 16 with the annual parade, leaving Sts. Peter and Paul School parking lot at 5:30pm. The parade ends at Strobel Field, where the Panthers football team will take on Seneca East at 7:00pm. At the game, all alumni are invited into the north end zone to visit the SCCS Education Foundation Alumni End Zone Party for food, fellowship, and fun. Also, the Gold Rush Raffle winner of $5000 will be announced at halftime.

On Sunday, September 17 at 1:00pm, the TLC class is sponsoring Kick-It, a kick ball tournament to support the fight against children's cancer. At 5:48, the annual Senior vs. Junior girls Powderpuff football game begins, with the Freshman and Sophomore Ultimate Frisbee game taking place at halftime. The Cameo pizza truck will be available all day selling pizza and drinks as well. Come out and support your fellow Panthers!

Spirit week is Monday, September 18 through Friday, September 22. All students preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to participate! The Homecoming theme this year is seasons: seniors are summer, juniors are winter, sophomores are fall, and freshmen are spring. Dress up days are as follows:

Monday - Country Western Day (no shorts, tank tops, or leggings)
 
Tuesday - Pajama Day (no shorts, tank tops, or leggings. Elementary students wearing slippers must bring shoes for lunch and recess, no stuffed animals, blankets, or pillows)
 
Wednesday - High school students dress like your hall, preschool through grade 8, dress like your favorite season (appropriate length shorts allowed, no tank tops, or leggings)
 
Thursday - Dress to Impress (ladies: no shoulders showing, skirts no more than two inches above the knee, closed toe shoes/ gentlemen: dress shirt, dress pants, dress shoes, ties encouraged)
 
Friday - Spirit Day, SCCS spirit shirt and jeans (no shorts, tank tops, or leggings)

PERKINS BUS RIDERS
Just a reminder to Perkins bus riders that on our 2-hour delay day, Tuesday, September 19, NO home to school busing transportation will be provided, BUT the bus will arrive at the north parking lot of Perkins High School around 9:10am and will depart no later than 9:20am. ALL students should arrive by 9:15am and must remain under the supervision of a parent/guardian until the bus arrives. A letter was sent home this week with our Perkins bus riders.

2-HOUR DELAY REMINDER
On Tuesday, September 19, SCCS will be on a 2-hour delay. School start time is 9:40am.

CCAB REVERSE RAFFLE
The CCAB Reverse Raffle is Saturday, October 21, in The Kinzel Center. Doors open at 5:00pm and the Reverse Raffle is from 7:00pm to approximately 10:00pm. The Grand Prize is $10,000, with an additional $6,000 in prizes to be awarded as well. All proceeds will benefit SCCS grade school through high school athletic programs. VICTORY DAY 2017
Victory Day returns for the fourth year to Kalahari Field at Huron Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 23, from 2:00pm-3:30pm. The Huron and St. Mary Central Catholic High School varsity football teams, cheerleaders, and marching bands are co-hosting a special event for children with severe learning and physical disabilities. Participants will be partnered with a Huron High School or St. Mary football player or cheerleader who will serve as their mentor for the day. Each child is provided with a full game day experience and given an opportunity to run or catch a pass for a touchdown. Please join us for this wonderful event!
 
PINK-OUT TSHIRTS

PANTHER MINI CHEER CLINIC
Friday, October 6, the Panther Cheerleaders will be hosting a football season mini cheer clinic for students in preschool through 8th grade from 8:00am-3:00pm in The Den. The High School cheerleaders will work with the students to learn healthy nutrition, proper stretching techniques, motions, jumps, sideline chants, group cheer, tumbling, and dances. Participants will receive a team t-shirt and are invited to join our Panther cheerleaders during the first quarter of the Varsity football game. Please bring a sack lunch for the clinic. The football game is also "Pink Out" night, so we would love to see everyone decked out in their pink gear in support of breast cancer awareness and prevention! HOME FOOTBALL GAME VOUNTEERS NEEDED
Come out and support our Panthers by volunteering to be a ticket seller or ticket taker at SMCC Varsity Football games. If interested, please contact Coach Ryan Wikel at [email protected] . MUFFINS WITH MOMS
Please join Mrs. Mohr's 4-year-old class, Mrs. West's and Mrs. Strauser's Cub classes, and grades K-5 for Muffins with Moms on Friday, September 29. Stop by anytime between 7:00am - 7:30am with your student in The Den. Mrs. Mohr's 3-year-old class event will be held on Thursday, September 28 in the classroom at 7:45am. If mom is unable to attend, another adult is welcome. Hope to see you there!

PRESCHOOL STATE INFORMATION
According to state law, SCCS must provide our preschool families with information about the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part C Assessments and Screenings. Click here for more information.

According to state law, SCCS must provide our preschool families with information about Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment from Healthchek. Children enrolled in Medicaid are required to participate in this program. In addition, preschools are required to provide this information to all families. CAFETERIA HELP NEEDED

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL NEWS

HOMECOMING DANCE TICKETS
Saturday, September 23, SMCC will host the "Winter Wonderland" Homecoming Dance in The Kinzel Center from 8:00pm-11:00pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, for students in grades 9-12. Tickets may be purchased during lunch.

PRE ACT TESTING
On September 26, the sophomore class will be taking the PreACT during the school day. This test is a practice for the ACT. If you have any questions regarding the test, please contact Miss Howman at [email protected]

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SCHOLARSHIP
The Ohio Charity Foundation is offering a $1000 Knights of Columbus scholarship to Catholic high schools in Ohio. This scholarship will be applied to your 2017-2018 tuition. Applicants must be a 9-12 grade student, practicing Catholic, at least 2.5 GPA, and have financial need. All applications must include a transcript.

GRADES 9-12 PARTNERS IN HEALTH POLICY
Last Thursday, students in grades 9-12 received a detailed policy regarding the Partners in Health SCCS Drug Testing Program.  The last page of the document should be signed by student and parent and returned to school as soon as possible.  Please contact Principal Dennis Antonelli at [email protected] if you need another copy of the policy.
